Déjà vu: Now Cruiser RV is recalling RVs for hot circuit boards

In what could be a long, repetitive series of recalls, now Cruiser is recalling RVs for hot circuit boards. Cruiser RV (Cruiser) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Avenir, Embrace, Shadow Cruiser, Radiance, Stryker, MPG, 2024 Twilight travel trailers, and 2024 Essence fifth wheels. The LED backlight circuit board in the cooktop range may fail, causing the board to overheat. A circuit board that overheats increases the risk of a fire. Potentially 2,407 rigs are affected.

This is the third recall we’ve reported on in as many days, all for the same reason. Since Suburban is a popular RV range builder, we may see more and more of these recalls.

Remedy

Dealers will disconnect and cut the circuit powering the LED backlights and terminate the wiring, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 17, 2024. Owners may contact Cruiser customer service at 1-574-206-7920.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

I wonder where, and by whom, the circuit boards were made ?? Shouldn’t they be mostly responsible for the short circuiting?

Hi, Bill. I was wondering the same thing. Looking at the recall notices on NHTSA (linked in each of our recall posts), it says the defective component was manufactured by Airxcel, INC – Suburban Division, in Tennessee. –Diane

I was thinking the circuit boards were from over seas. Too bad it’s a domestic part, that’s sure going to hurt their bottom line.. Thank you for looking that up and sharing the info. with us all. Have a great evening Diane!

What they build the parts from could be originally from overseas. I see (on Amazon) that some of the knobs for the Suburban ranges come from China. Didn’t see anything on Airxcel, however, regarding if everything is made in the USA. But you may be correct, and that was my hunch, also. (I ran out of time to research any further.) Take care, Bill.🤗 –Diane

It doesn’t matter where or what part that is bad. If you put your name on it you are “RESPONSEABLE” for all of it working and not some lame cut the wires “fix”. And it should hurt their bottom line and the quarterly bonus’s of who did not do their job.

sorry for the crappy spelling of responsible. I get 10 demerits and have to stay after class and write it 100 times.

I can fix it for you, Jesse, if you want. But I got a kick out of your self-imposed punishment so am tempted to leave it as is. Have a good night. 😀 –Diane

Thank you, Russ and Tina! 🙂 Well, seems as though Suburban should do far more to address this problem than the RV manufacturers are doing. Thanks again, safe travels! 🙂

We have a ’23 Jayco 5th wheel with a Furrion range with blue backlit knobs. I can’t help but wonder if they’re going to find the same fault. Ours’ have a switch to turn the backlight on/off. I tried to find out if the Suburban is set up the same way. I guess we just won’t be turning it on… and wait to see if Furrion does a recall too.
