Fund established to help family of murdered RVers

By Russ and Tiña De Maris

After the senseless murder in October of James and Michelle Butler, a fulltiming RV couple, their family is struggling to deal with the aftermath. In addition to the ordeal of hearing your loved ones have died of homicide, they’re now working out the details of how to get them home and properly buried.

When the Butlers went missing, and two unidentified bodies turned up in Texas, James’ sisters were trying to get there. A GoFundMe page was set up to help pay for travel expenses. Before the fund reached goal, the coroner’s office positively identified the bodies as those of James and Michelle.

The GoFundMe page is still in place, and now the purpose has been redirected to bringing the Butlers home to New Hampshire and to help get their children there for memorial services.

As of Tuesday, the original $3,000 goal had been exceeded, and more than $9,700 had been donated, some by RVers who have been hit hard by this tragedy. You can access the page here.
