Registration is now open for Vicksburg National Military Park’s Memorial Day flag placement event on May 24 from 8 a.m. to noon. Check-in begins at 7:30 am. Located within Vicksburg National Military Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Vicksburg National Cemetery is the final resting place for more than 18,000 U.S. Veterans, 17,000 of whom served in the Union Army during the Civil War, a number unmatched at any other National Cemetery.
Every year on the Friday before Memorial Day, a United States flag is placed at each individual gravesite in remembrance of the sacrifice so many Americans made for their country. Join other volunteers, National Park Service staff, and the Friends of Vicksburg Military Park & Campaign in continuing this tradition.
Registration closes this coming Tuesday, May 21, at midnight. If you would like to volunteer, do so here.
