Jayco recalls motorhomes for electrical fire risk

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Entegra Anthem, Aspire, Cornerstone, Reatta, and Reatta XL motorhomes. The battery cables may not be the correct size, in the correct location, or they may be improperly tightened, which can cause an electrical short or allow the cables to overheat.

An electrical short or overheating of the battery cables increases the risk of a fire which could lead to injury or worse. The safety recall was issued August 1, 2024.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect the battery cables, and repair or replace them as necessary, free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 30, 2024. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco’s number for this recall is 9903611.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 Well, obviously incompetent RV building is no respecter of MSRP. 🤔😯 2025 Cornerstones carry a suggested retail price of >$900,000, but the emergency exit is a window through which you have to crawl. 🤔😯 Thor effect? Or did Entegra do this without corporate assistance? 🤔😯 Thanks again, have a great weekend, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

Battery cables, wrong size, wrong location, wrongly tightened. Did they even remember to install the battery? Do RV manufacturers even read their own recalls? Aren’t they embarrassed? And as Neal says, for this you get to drop a cool Mill? The Prez of the Corp should be required to spend a week installing batteries and cables before his next coffee break.

Great suggestion, KellyR! Can you see the white collar guys slipping off their jackets, rolling up their sleeves, and sweating? Me neither. 😉 Have a great week, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

This all upsets me because I was a white-collar guy who came up the blue-collar way. More than once, I told my mechanic, “Hold my coat, this is how you do it.” Managers are not managing their plant. That is all there is to it! My wife learned how to get grease out of white shirts. RV lack of quality just makes me mad – no reason for it.

Sorry, KellyR. 🙁 Meant no offense. Most white collar/manager types I had did not come up through the ranks. Have a great week, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

No offense AT ALL! I disdain white collars that do not know what is going on in their operations. Sitting behind that desk is just PART of the job.

Thank you, Kelly! I hoped not, but without facial expressions and tone of voice, I wanted to err in that direction rather than merely presuming otherwise. Thanks again! 🙂
