Mitsubishi’s Maximum Offroader van belongs on the moon

In a design that would make NASA envious, Mitsubishi says folks in the U.S. will be able to get their hands on this futuristic-looking “crossover” van in a few years. From the looks of the thing, Mitsubishi’s Maximum Offroader belongs on the moon. That’s how the company is describing this strange vehicle.

Called Delica — but not delicate in the least

Mitsubishi’s Maximum Offroader belongs on the moon
We don’t see any craters on this moon.

Mitsubishi calls it the Delica—but it doesn’t look delicate in the least. As far as running around on the lunar surface, well, maybe it could—halfway. The thing is a PHEV, or Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle. It runs both on electricity taken from the grid, and the other part gas or diesel. We weren’t able to find out what that other half fuel would be, but with no 02 on the moon to complete the combustion side, the Delica would soon be a dead duck.

Mitsubishi’s Maximum Offroader belongs on the moon—but coming to the U.S.

No matter, because those who salivate for such a vehicle would mostly be planted firmly on terra firma. But if that terra firma happens to be labeled “United States of America,” there could be a bit of a wait. Mitsubishi says you can have a Delica of your very own here in the US—by the end of the decade. When it does arrive, the company promises these features:

  • Six seats
  • A roomy cabin
  • The road handling of an SUV
  • A cross between “Maximum Space and Safety for Humans” and “Maximum Off-Roader.”

If you wish upon a star, maybe you’ll be able to save up for one by the end of the decade. Mitsubishi’s Maximum Offroader belongs on the moon, but promises to take you through BLM backcountry.

It belongs on the dark side of the moon where I’ll never have to look at it…🫣

Thank you, Russ and Tina! 🙂 This looks interesting. I wonder if it makes it into production? Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂

Delicas are common here in the West. Most are all-wheel drive with quite a bit of ground clearance. The Delica sport van model has been brought into the US for years. Their looks have always been a bit jellybean-like. Loved by their owners🌚
