National Park Service likes big buttes

In its continuing work at promoting the nation’s, umm, natural treasures, the National Park Service has released yet another memorable promo. They like big buttes, and are looking for visitors who also have said appreciation. Here’s their latest pitch from Facebook.

Big buttes—from the National Park Service

We like big buttes, and we cannot lie, umm, we said buttes, and we don’t deny. As hikers climb the narrow, flat top, watch your step and avoid that drop.

You too, Becky. Come and explore the world’s most magnificent rock collection—your National Parks. These rocky features captivate the imagination. We’ve got arches, hoodoos, mesas, natural bridges, canyons, plateaus, pillars, and more. Also buttes. From Arches National Park to Pinnacles National Park, to Fossil Butte National Monument and Zion National Park, the National Park Service preserves these special places for everyone to enjoy. Learn more here.

Rock on. Is there a favorite geologic wonder you’ve come across?

Not every federal agency has a sense of humor. Learn how one had to reverse course on straight-lacing highway signs

Russ and Tiña De Maris
Russ and Tiña De Maris
Russ and Tiña went from childhood tent camping to RVing in the 1980s when the ground got too hard. They've been tutored in the ways of RVing (and RV repair) by a series of rigs, from truck campers, to a fifth-wheel, and several travel trailers. In addition to writing scores of articles on RVing topics, they've also taught college classes for folks new to RVing. They authored the book, RV Boondocking Basics.
