Manufacturer Newmar is recalling several brands of motorhomes for a seat pedestal problem. The recall is for certain 2022-2023 Dutch Star, Mountain Aire, London Aire, Essex, and 2016 London Aire motorhomes. The pedestal mounting plate may be improperly welded, causing the plate to separate and the seat assembly to loosen or detach.
As such, these seat assemblies fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, “Seating Systems,” and number 210, “Seat belt assembly anchorages.” A loose or detached seat assembly increases the risk of injury. Potentially 160 motorhomes are affected.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect for a missing weld, and replace the pedestal as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters will be mailed January 31, 2024. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar’s number for this recall is 608 RSB.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Thank you, Russ and Tina! Wow! Well, I was a bit jealous, but now I am thankful that we could not afford a 2022 Mountain Aire, London Aire, or Essex. 🙂 Safe travels! 🙂
