In the fast-paced digital world we live in, social media plays a pivotal role in how we connect, share, and consume information, especially as RVers who travel often. With a myriad of platforms available, each catering to different interests and demographics, it’s fascinating to see where people dedicate their time online.
For many, Facebook remains a cornerstone for maintaining friendships and family connections, allowing users to share life updates and engage in discussions within groups. Instagram, with its focus on visuals, has become a favorite for those looking to showcase their creativity, whether through photography, food, or travel.
TikTok has taken the world by storm, drawing users in with its short, engaging videos that offer everything from comedy to DIY tips. It’s a platform where trends can explode overnight, making it a hotspot for younger audiences.
On the professional side, LinkedIn serves as a crucial networking tool, helping individuals connect with colleagues, discover job opportunities, and share industry insights. Meanwhile, Pinterest attracts those seeking inspiration for projects, home decor, fashion, and more, providing a visual haven for creativity.
So please vote in the poll below and tell us which platforms you spend at least two hours a week (or more) on. You can select all that apply. As always, thank you for voting!

Left Twitter (when it became X) for Mastodon…much happier now. https://joinmastodon.org/
“Left”…got it
I used to be somewhat addicted to FB, but a few years ago I decided that if my choices were either “too much” or “zero”, it would have to be “zero”. I now use it only to catch a church service if I am sick.
None, and I intend to keep it that way.
2 hours a week on social media tell me a lot about the state of the country.
Nope, nadda, none…..the only social media I use to stay in touch with family & friends is the telephone!
None! Those sites are nothing but data harvesters.
Bob, your data is being harvested right now. You can’t stop it. 🙂
So called “social media” junk should be banned and let people go back to a phone with a cord on it. If people just have to “text” get a typewriter…the original text machine. Little wonder why the world is disintegrating.
I don’t have 3,000 miles of phone cords!
I solved that problem; I just stop along the road and tap into one of the telegraph lines that were strung across the nation at one time.
😂🤣😂
😂🤣😂
Should have also included SubStack which is actively growing network.
…and Rumble 🇺🇸
I have a FB account, but only because it is the only way to get important announcements from a few semi-private groups. Or some RV parks only have FB rather than operational websites. I don’t waste 2 hours a week in social media.
Social media platforms have become the “devil in disguise” AFAIAC. When I do nightly patrols through the campgrounds I work at, all I see at campfires are people with their heads buried in their phones. Then there are the “walking phone Zombies” walking aimlessly someplace while their heads are buried in their phones. What did these people do BEFORE mobile smartphones and social media, play Pong all day?????
Showing your age there, Doc! 😉 I remember when the guys at the commune brought home Pong, they were glued to the TV even more hours than previously, leaving me and the other woman to hold down jobs, pay rent, shop and cook, and do whatever housework was necessary to hold the fort
GAB more than any other.
I’m getting hooked on Youtube DIY videos.
That’s not really “social media”. I watch stuff every night.
FB and YT. I get a lot of ham radio info from both.
Looks like they changed the layout of the BLM campground guide. It’s now more like the National Forest one, which was easier to use. I use mine for planning a trip and when I have no cell service.
Unlike the others, free speech is alive, well and thriving on X. Facebook lost me when they polled their users in 2018 asking if ads from men seeking to have sex with children should be allowed.
The extent of my online social is right here at RVTravel.com. I do have a FB account which is limited to business and it gets about 10 minutes of my time per week simply to keep up with my IT manager’s posts.
Same here.
No FaceBook, LinkedIn, Twitter or any other social media presence other than conversations here and a few other forums.
I will definitely be downloading the Joe Rogan Podcast from yesterday and watch/listen to it however. It will be my first Joe Rogan Experience, other than the odd sound bite. Kind of looking forward to it but 3 hours is a serious time investment so not sure I’ll get through it. Sure seems like a missed opportunity for one of them to connect with young men but perhaps 1, 2 or 3 hours would be a bridge to far for an open conversation. Not trying to be political, I really would have listened to both.
It is a GREAT opportunity for both sides! The Joe Rogan Experience has a HUGE listening audience of young men! Rogan’s platform IS a looooong and winding journey 😅…but worth the listen if you are interested in a particular topic and/or person. His interviews are always just good ol’ conversation. I listen while I do chores…helps make the task more fun! I have always listened in increments…3 hours is a long time for me to stay focused!😂…I agree…I too would definitely listen to both! For the sake of our country, I hope people that wouldn’t normally listen in…will. I’m thinkin the numbers will be huge! 🇺🇸
You Tube also! Many great tips and product reviews. Watch “Project Farm” sometime- hilarious and informative.
I try to avoid all social media platforms. I use my phone to stay in touch with family and friends, and RV Travel to exchange comments and ideas with others. Also have on line access to 2 separate county public libraries for books to read on my tablet
I just might spend 2 hours a day on RVTravel – never timed myself. Other than that, I keep up with agriculture by watching some farm videos on YouTube. I don’t care for what my cousin had for dinner.
2 hours a week??? Go out and be social – in person.
Good to see “none of the above” is a strong “2nd” 😃🇺🇸
Ex DIL insisted we get FB when DS was playing in the sandbox for Uncle Sam, she had no intention of of being his link to family. About halfway thru his tour they were banned from social networks by higher ups for security. Since then FB has: discovered cousins parents had lost touch with, my best friend from high school, scores of similar interest groups, support groups for my RV brand, and if DH is on computer for work I can call up0 RVtravel newsletter groups
Thank you, RV Travel! Once upon a time I did spend about 2 hours (more?) on Facebook each day. A tragic and pre-mature death of one of my college teammates a few years ago made such a daily expenditure seem frivolous and wasteful. Now, I do sometimes wander through Facebook for a few minutes every few weeks, but rarely on consecutive days. Have a great day and safe travels!
