Quick! Without thinking too hard, how would you answer today’s poll question: Overall, did you make a good or bad choice when choosing your current RV?
Do you feel satisfied with your RV? Happy it’s the one you chose? Or do you regret your RV buying decision? Do you think there was an RV better suited for you? Maybe your RV has a ton of problems, or maybe it’s not quite the lifestyle you thought it would be…
Some RVers rave about their rigs, calling them the perfect home away from home, while others struggle with buyer’s remorse. Maybe you wish you’d done more research, or perhaps your RV is reliable but missing features that would make your travels more comfortable. On the flip side, some RVers stumble into a purchase and find it unexpectedly perfect—proof that sometimes, luck can play a big role in a satisfying decision.
Then there’s the question of maintenance and reliability. Have you been plagued by unexpected breakdowns, expensive repairs, or subpar warranty support? Or has your RV exceeded expectations, proving to be a dependable companion on your adventures? Sometimes, it’s not just about the RV itself but how well it fits your needs, from floor plans to towing ease to fuel efficiency.
After you vote, please leave a comment and tell us about your answer. Thanks!

We looked for five years before purchasing our last Class A. When we went inside it felt right. Wife was more surprised because as many as we looked at she thought I was just kicking tires.
We did a lot of research before buying our Livin Lite 14DBS. I decided to go with Livin Lite because of the all aluminum build (No wood in the construction). The owner of the company was very patient with my questions and recommended I look at his newest product which was a 15 foot trailer with twin axles and a dinette built into the slide. When we got to the dealership and my wife opened the door she said “this is the one”. Ten years on and still satisfied with the quality and reliability. Too bad it was such a fine design that one of the biggest manufacturers bought the company and shut it down.
When we bought our Class A, I had a few requirements. First it had to fit into our Barn so about 34′ was max. Second I wanted a Diesel pusher for the flat floor so i can move around, I am physically handicapped. Third it had to come with NO SLIDES. We looked at a 31′ unit in our price range and the wife was not happy with the kitchen and it seemed to be too dark inside. The dealer also had a 34′ unit they could bring into the building, (it was January in Northern Minnesota). As soon as we walked inside that unit, we knew it was the one. The cabinets were white and it had large windows and the kitchen was a lot larger than out current TT. We made a deal and want back in May to get it.
It’s good for where we are in our lives, retired. As the expression goes, “not my first rodeo” because we’ve been RVing for over 5 decades and we have owned several so I knew what we needed.
Shucked the Grand Design junk and bought an Outdoors RV brand trailer. best decision ever made after NU-WA Hitchhikers got so scarce.
I bought a Transit 350 HD and am quite pleased with it. I previously had a pickup with a pop-up, but I enjoy being able to move into the back without exiting and the buildout has everything – cooktop, fridge, heater, storage and room for a litter box for my cat. At only 19′, I like being able to park in any regular parking spot, fit in any campground site and being able to more easily find a more level spot at a campsite. Since it’s only me and my cat, I don’t need anything more.
Fulltimers since 2015. Heartland Cyclone 3611JS toy hauler been in it for 10 years no regrets. Done some modifications, Flexarmor roof, MorRyde IS and disc brakes. We carry our side by side in the garage. Workamp in the summer, cruise and relax in the winter. Life is GOOD! Would NOT buy a new RV in todays market.
Recliner chairs looked brand new in 5-year old unit. Material was disintegrating in just two years of use! Sleeper sofa meant sleeping on the sofa the way it was. Didn’t pull out into a bed! Dealer I dealt with for 30 years retired and sold the business to a large chain dealer. Never deal with them again.
Two actively used TTs. The larger 2017 Cougar is stationary and used as a winter home. As far as RVs go it has been mostly trouble free and the floor plan fits longer term use. The smaller 2022 21′ Gulf Stream floor plan works well for travel – both our seasonal migration and shorter adventures. I knew from the get-go it is a covid buggy with emphasis on bugs I had to remanufacture. The GS also needs gentle treatment – fine for a pair of quiet retirees; doubt it would hold up with an active family. Gulf Stream’s “3-year structural warranty” isn’t worth the paper used to print it.
We lucked into a great deal on Craigslist before used RV prices went through the roof a few years back. Our 2010 Winnebago View DL is a great size for us and our small dog. It’s easy to drive, gets 16-18 mpg, and fits comfortably everywhere we go. It accommodates our bikes inside with a removable rack I built, or with the stock bench seat in place of the rack, it has seating for six and bed space for 3-4. With some electrical upgrades, we can now boondock for several days at a time. It’s a great little home on wheels!
It’s been mostly trouble-free and seems to be better built than many new rigs costing 3-4X as much. The only thing I wish is that it was better insulated for 4-season use.
My new Ember has been in the repair shop 5 out of the first 15 months of ownership. Is that good or bad?
We purchased a new 2017 HOST Mammoth truck camper. Special ordered it from the factory. We chose a truck camper because we also tow our boat or a small truck (toad). It also fits how we camp. Its self-contained and allows us boondock or stay in NF or NP campgrounds with limited services. The truck camper also fits into places that we like to go.
As far as the manufacturer, HOST goes, the build quality was excellent. One small recall that I fixed after they sent me the part. With three slides, lots of interior room, plenty of storage (a rarity for truck campers) we will continue to use our truck camper for many more years.
It was a great choice for us 10+ years ago and we’ve enjoyed extended touring coast to coast. However, our needs have changed and we are considering downsizing from our big rig as we stay closer to home.
We were looking for a slightly larger motorhome as we had sold our house and were looking for a full-time motorhome. Even though we have had more major mechanical issues with this motorhome than any of the other nine we have owned, our 2015 Dutch Star 4369 is comfortable and successful for full timing. (We have had six Xplorer Class B’s, a Cruisemaster, and two other Dutch Stars.)
We spent over a year comparing floor plans and reviews to the Cougar 2023 25RDSWE that we purchased from Curtis Trailers in Portland Oregon and have been absolutely satisfied with our purchase. We had a couple of minor repairs under warranty that needed to be dealt with, we sent photos in, parts were ordered, we made an appointment and repairs were taken care of within a few hours, we never missed a scheduled camp trip!! When we took our trailer in for the repairs, the tech checking us in noticed a decal bubbling and brought that to our attention, again, parts ordered while we were using our trailer, scheduled the repair, when parts were in, once again, didn’t miss any scheduled camping.
We bought a Brinkley Z3100. What a great decision. The quality and customer service is first rate. A full season out and not a single item on the warranty punch list. Love it.
Our venue are dog trials. Trouble is they are disappearing due to lack of help setting-up, running, and clean-up. Younger people just don’t help. Want everything done for them. So moving into a DP was a mistake with fewer places to go.
Thank you, RV Travels! We could have done better. Wish we had not gone quite as short. Have a great day and safe travels! 🙂
My one and only 2018 model bought for my birthday in 2017.
We researched and looked for 3 years before we found exactly what we were looking for and when we did, it was on sale at the Pomona RV show, and we bought it right then and there. We have loved it ever since.
I’m on my second Newmar. That should definitely answer the question.
