Which seat on an airliner do you prefer?

When you book a flight (we know, you’re an RVer, you probably hardly fly but we still want to know!), which seat do you prefer? The aisle, which usually has more space to stretch out and easy access to the restroom? Or maybe you prefer the middle… hey, if you fall asleep, your head will be supported by someone’s shoulder! Or the window? If you choose the window, it’s to look out and admire the scenery, it’s not to have to climb over two people every time you have to use the restroom.

After you vote, please leave a comment and tell us why you like that seat the most. Especially if it’s not for one of the reasons mentioned above!

Window mid ship or over the wings

While I prefer the aisle, my husband really likes the window seat so I end up in the middle. But since I only fly when absolutely necessary, it doesn’t really have an impact on my life 😉

I haven’t flown since 1995 and have no intention of ever flying again. If I do, it will be in the cargo Bay in a Body Bag getting home for the final time.

No one “likes” the middle seat. Long flights, aisle is better, short flights, window.

I voted window, but I haven’t flown in 20 years and don’t miss it a bit. I’ve witnessed the irate passengers who were bumped and made fools of themselves because they HAVE to get to Aunt Lucy’s for Thanksgiving, because they are baking the crescent rolls. I’ve been bumped too, not that big a deal. Apparently it has gotten far worse in our me first culture. So, let the ticket agents and flight attendants carry pepper spray. If you behave you’ll ever know they have it.

I love to look at this great country from a window seat that is not over the wing. I have seen the immenisity of the Grand Canyon, the sunset over Greenland, and one year I flew west on the 4th of July. I saw fireworks almost all the way there.

Yes! You can see astonishing things on a flight.

While most people are wrapped up in some movie or device. What would Lewis & Clark think of them?

I prefer the aisle seat, but unfortunately I usually end up stuck in the middle. The worst most uncomfortable seat on the plane.

I prefer the emergency exit window seat,

Anything on the exit row. More leg room, and I was trained what to do, just in case.

It was a tough decision between aisle and window. I love looking out the window but then that puts my husband in the middle seat – not fun. So, if we are flying together I try to get aisle seats across from each other. Unlike my husband, I am only 5 foot so when I am sitting in the middle seat I feel like I am in a box, I cannot see any where!

I used to prefer the window seat, but I would be happiest if I never flew on an airplane again.

I prefer the very large window seat inside the terminal to watch the plane take off
after I have given friends or family a ride to the airport, I just might be the only baby boomer that has never been in a airliner and hope I never have to.

One of my life goals was that when I was retired and fully into the RV lifestyle, I would never have to get on an airplane ever again. I hate everything about air travel. And I mean everything! Hopefully I’m done with it.

The last time I had to fly was Labor Day weekend of 1985, when I had to fly to Chicago to move my family to Al.

I like the window on short flights but the aisle on longer flights. Since I fly first class only there is no middle seat to worry about.

I opt for the window seat in the exit row. If traveling alone, I will sit in the aisle so I don’t have to climb over anyone in any row. If possible and with mike’s and points, I will upgrade to either first, business or premium economy on long haul or international flights.

When i traveled with my boyfriend, I always took the middle. Im only 5’2″ but he was 6′ and had broad shoulders. Much easier for him to take window, or aisle which he preferred.

The only seat I want to sit in is the pilot’s. Sitting in back is annoying.

I choose the window whenever possible. Im one of the “lucky” that seem to fall asleep as soon as putting seats back a little are allowed. Very disorienting when someone needs to climb over you or food and beverages are passed across you!

i prefer aisle. I have long legs and the aisle provides the most leg room

I will pay extra for exit row so as to get the most leg room.

The exit row aisle seat!

I prefer the aisle so that the window is unavailable. I prefer not flying and seeing outside via the window is too strong a reminder that I am flying. Also, my wife prefers the window seat. Further, smaller planes with two seats on each side of the aisle tend to have less headroom above the window seat. I am 6’2″ and my wife is 5’1,” so, again, I gravitate to the aisle seat in order to stoop less when entering and leaving my seat, and the lower height rarely bothers her.

More control for legd

Since retiring I rarely fly. So if there is a need to fly I choose to fly either Business or First Class, and if I can I want the aisle seat. I consider the upgrade to be worth it for my comfort and sanity.

I like the window because I can lean against the wall , and am not constantly being bumped in the shoulder by people using the aisles. During one flight, the female attendant whisked my face with her long hair every time she walked by.
The middle, well everyone hates the middle seat.

When forced to fly I always took a window. After my first flight to USMC boot camp on a DC6 as the morning sun rose I watched from my front seat facing back in front of the wing I saw a large hex nut bouncing around inside the engine nacelle I showed it to the stewardess, she called the captain and we made an unscheduled stop in Prescott, AZ for repairs. 1 1/2 hrs. later we resumed our flight to San Diego. Later after becoming an aircraft mechanic I saw another nut just like that one. It was one of 3 nuts that mount the engine to the wing. I guess I just don’t trust people to do their job right, otherwise that nut would’ve been safety wired to prevent it from loosening.

I prefer the window about 1/3 of the way back. I don’t usually have to get up for the bathroom and I can lean against the wall and sleep. I really liked to look out and see the country I use to fly over. Now I get to drive over those places.

Roy Davis

It’s only First Class air or Amtrak bedroom Sleeper – and preferably our Motorhome if reasonable time/distance allow.
