What will you do tonight to celebrate Halloween?

Do have something special planned this evening, after dark, when witches, goblins, ghosts and ghouls will emerge from their homes in search of candy and other treats?

Or are you headed off to a wild party, where you can let loose behind a mask and not embarrass your true self? Or are you just planning a quiet evening at home or in your RV as you do most years?

That’s our question. Let’s see if Halloween is a big deal or not.

Oh, before we leave, a Halloween joke: Why do demons and ghouls hang out together? Because demons are a ghoul’s best friend!

And now a final word: Boo!

We live out in the Boondocks so no one comes out since our Niece & Nephew aged out 20+ years ago.

I will be stuck in our bedroom with the dogs. DW won’t let me near the kids because I scare them and the Dogs ( Ashland and Sir Arnold Barkalot ) make too much noise. Happy Halloween.

Halloween at home is trunk or treat. Homes are so spread apart except for the main drag which is a major route that it would be unsafe. Plus all my children are grown adults with their own children. So at home watching MASH then off to bed.

We’ll have candy available for any Trick-or-Treaters who stop by, but being out in the country we rarely get any. We give any leftover candy to the grandkids (so I don’t eat it all).
Woke this morning to 2+ inches of snow here in Northern WI, so the Tricks on us!

We always buy some candy we like, just in case. But, we live 5 miles outside of a town of about 200, cannot see our nearest neighbor & are right on a 70 MPH highway. So,we don’t really expect any trick or treaters.

We’re in a ghost town on Route 66 and the closest “town” is almost 20 miles away.

If you are in a ghost town, you must have Halloween every day.

Hi, David and David. Don’t worry. Just an oversight on my part. I forgot to look at the poll itself (just saw the code) when I proofed the post, so didn’t notice that someone had put the wrong day in there. 😲 Trick or treat! 🎃 —Diane at RVtravel.com

I guess we have some not retired folks on RVT. Monday or Tuesday, All the same to me. There are only two days anymore, Monday thru Saturday is one day and Sunday is the other. Birthdays and Holidays now come every six months or so.

Working 7 days/nights a week, they’re all the same to me.🙄 Yep, I’ll be in the dark, as well. Just me and my computer. Not enough trick-or-treaters to worry about anymore, so I don’t buy candy or I’ll end up eating the majority of it myself. All those calories I save by just leaving my lights off each Halloween.😉 Have a quiet, albeit dark, evening/night, Kelly. 👻🎃 –Diane

We’ve lived in this neighborhood for 36 years, there were never very many kids trick or treating, maybe 25 or so. The number dwindled to none for at least the last 25 or so years. There are so many Halloween parties and events around the area for the children to attend that are safe not many parents take their kids door to door. I worked one Sunday night at church grilling and serving hot dogs.

Couple years ago we moved to a country club community, after 45 years in a rural ski resort area. We went from no kids to hundreds …. over 300 last year. $120+ in candy, yikes, but DW loves it.

Will attend a Halloween event at our winter home park in Texas. if we were home in Iowa, we would have candy ready to give out although over the years the trick or treaters have dwindled to just a few in our neighborhood. Sometimes the grandkids or great-grands would stop by.

Bon fire in the driveway at my daughters house with family and friends. Chili for dinner, hand out candy to the kiddos and a little trick or treating with the grandkids who are 3 and 1!

I think that my record for trick-or-treaters might be 10. I always hope for more and always end up with candy to spare. The real question for me to answer is … “buy candy that trick-or-treaters like or buy candy that I like?”

Wow…sounds just like us.

We are in the country. We get just a tiny number of kids…sometimes none. And of course nowadays they are driven around.

Every year we start a fire in the fireplace, watch the Mel Brooks comedy “Young Frankenstein” or “Dracula-Dead and Loving it” and patiently wait for kids that mostly never show. Too much candy left over, and my wife only buys one bag!!!

A couple inches of snow last night and still coming down…probably no one this year.

We live in the middle of no where and have never had anyone come for trick or treat. We now go to our church where they have Truck or Treat!! I LOVE Halloween and we decorate the parking lot and of course I spend way more on costumes than my better half would like (But she has learned to live with it!!)

No kids in the neighborhood any more. The only ones that show up are ones dumped off out of cars and vans from who knows where. Only interested in candy. We will black out.

We’re too far from the road to entertain trick-or-treaters (~ 1/2 mile). We’re not keen to have random people driving to the house and possibly scoping out what they can steal under the guise of transporting trick-or-treaters.

Long ago, I did what I had to do and attended church. For 75 yrs I’ve never bothered to celebrate halloween. Instead, I celebrate All Souls Day, Nov 1&2.
