High school was either the best time of your life or the worst time. It’s hard to find anyone who thinks otherwise. Your experience in high school probably depended a lot on who you spent your time with. If you had a good group of friends in high school, they were probably some of the best friends you’ve ever had.
Think back to those friends or that group… Do you still talk to them? Do you still see them? If so, how long have you been friends for? Please vote in today’s poll then feel free to answer those questions in the comments below. Thanks!

Left my High School area in 1962. Have rarely been back. The area hated the military and the feeling were returned.
Retired back to the same area I grew up in but never get together with any former classmates nor attend reunions. Not much in common with those with whom I graduated.
We met as Freshmen in high school. She taught me to water ski and we spent our summers alone on the river. We haven’t lived geographically close since. But she has prayed for me furiously as work took me to the darkest spots of the world and now as my RV takes me all over North America. God must love her a lot. He listens to her prayers. I’ve always been safe! And here we are 62 years later. We still gossip and support each other by phone and my RV takes me to see her a couple of times a year. She will be one of my very best friends to the end. I wish you all had someone like that in your life.
Praying friends are the best friends!
I attended 3 different high schools in 3 different states across the country (WA, MO, & PA), 2 different schools/states in my Senior year. Closest I get are “visits” from Facebook friends in my graduating high school (so yes I see them on Facebook but not in person). I’ve lived in 9 different states (3 additional states as an adult, full time) and now part time in 2 more (FL & NY). We live in our RVs (yes, we have 3) eight months each year and see my kids & cousins once or twice a year. I don’t even get back across the country to see my sisters in southern CA and they don’t come to the east coast to visit me.
Yes… my wife!
Yes, I see her every day. She is my wife! 🙂
My wife also. 63 years and counting!!
We met at her 16th birthday party and married 3 years later. Now, 39 years later, I still have my best high school friend.
How about junior high? After I retired, I searched the internet for my closest friend from late grade school through junior high…found her in Maine. As two Air Force brats, we both have lived in many places since we said goodbye in 1970. I found her again in 2017ish and have been pen pals ever since. After 53 years, we finally met face to face last fall! We are each other’s oldest friends!
My best friend from high school and I occasionally talk but more often stay in touch by Facebook Messenger and email. We visit twice a year after losing touch for a few years. Have lived in widely different areas of the US due to military service moves. Can’t wait for her to retire so we can visit more often. Our friendship started in 4th grade, 57 years ago.
My closest friend ever (we met in HS) died many years ago. I think of him every day. . .
I left town to go to college and graduate school, then got married and for more than 25 years lived 600 miles from where I grew up. During that time I saw former classmates twice and attended two reunions. I have seen my closest high school friend about every four months over the last two years. So, not too often. However, I was drafted onto the planning committee for our 50th anniversary when I attend the funeral of a classmate. I now see three or four classmates every two months, but we were not “friends” in school.
It’s funny how the things that made us friends in high school…or not friends…no longer matter as adults. Same…friends now I didn’t hang with in high school.
Not too often – but that is my fault. The people who still reside in or near my home town see each other more often. I moved nearly 600 miles away to continue my education and never moved back. I trade a few texts every few weeks but it can go 1-2 years between in-person visits.
Yes. Met my best friend in Grade 7 and have remained best friends ever since and that is 68 years, My other best friend I met in business college and that was 62 years ago. We live in different towns but meet up every couple of months but are on line constantly,
I have 3 HS friends that I text or talk to on the phone frequently. Haven’t seen two of them in over 50 years as I live 600 miles from my home town…& will not go back there-LA area.
I have 2 very close friends from HS that I see every couple of years. We live in different states so it’s not easy to get together. This August we are taking an Alaska cruise together to celebrate our 75th birthdays, along with our spouses. It’s wonderful to have friends for over 60 years.
I answered yes very often, but that’s not totally acurate. No other friends from high school, but my wife was someone I knew of, but not actually a real friend at the time. Re met a few years later and have been together ever since…😍
50 year H.S. reunion this year, married just over 46 years !!
Yes one annually one every quarter and one monthly many have passed on
only one, an only every 10 years at reunions.
I have maintained a close friendship with one high school classmate (out of a graduating class of 99). We have been friends since we met as competitors during little league baseball at age 8. Though we now live 1,200 miles apart, we get together when we can and chat regularly via text,
The poll pretty much explains the low turnout at some high school reunions. Not that folks are just no longer living, they lose interest, it is not convenient, or desirable to go and see their classmates.
Both my husband and I have friends from high school that we see all the time. They’re the best!
We planned a small get together of old girl friends before our 40th reunion in 2005 …we are still all in touch and the group has grown. We celebrated our 60th birthday “year” together for a long weekend. The locals get together monthly…husband’s have formed golf outings and poker nights. When we visit my home town, they always plan a gathering! My best friend from the 60’s lives in NC when we travel through NC we always stop for a visit….so yes…I see high school friends from time to time, even though I moved away in the late 60’s.
I am Facebook friends with quite a few. Don’t get back to my hometown very often.
I love the husband wife comments! Have many friends who married high school sweethearts. One..50 years later! Ever wonder what if? I do…
i have a couple of friends i see when i go back home. live in a different state now. one is from high school. but 4 are friends from childhood
Yes, every morning, until we go to sleep each night. I married her!
