Are you doing something special tomorrow for the 4th of July?

What are your plans for tomorrow? Will you sit at home just like any other night, or are you headed out to a big fireworks celebration at your local fairgrounds? Or maybe you’ll gather with some neighbors in the RV park to blow off $200 worth of “cheap” fireworks and light a few of those weird little worms that expand as they burn on the sidewalk.

If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll get to attend a fireworks celebration or a festival in a small town that you just happen to be in. That can be a great treat—watching the locals observe their Independence Day rituals. Maybe you can eat a corn dog and some buttered corn on the cob. If you’re really lucky, you’ll hear Ethel Merman belting out “God Bless America” over the PA system as the fireworks grand finale sets the sky ablaze!

So what are your plans? Tell us in the comments below the poll. Thanks!

Oh, and in this poll you can select up to three options.

I had to vote “no” as I’ll be working in the CG to ensure our guests have a great 4th of July experience. On second thought, maybe I will be doing something special.

For the Fourth and every other three day weekend, I will stay off all Interstate Highways. Not much fun sitting in the parking lot that they become.
Interstate 10, both East and West are pretty tight along the Gulf Coast. Dated, narrow roads, tunnels, and bridges all need updates.

Yes. Staying off the road and have done it for several years. I found on major holidays I just don’t travel, don’t need the added stress.

We are part of the planning committee for our community 4th of July celebration. We start tonight with a street dance. Tomorrow we have a 5K, parade, activities, and end the day with fire works.

Will be at my daughter’s house to watch our community 4th of July parade. Hit the community park to see old friends, then off to my Sister’s house (Nextdoor) for a pool party and BBQ. Happy Independence Day everyone, with its problems, we still live in the greatest country in the world!🇺🇸

Yes it is.

Nope. Just spending the day with DW, cooking steaks, watching for fires, and staying away from the idiot public.

Attending an event, but to get more specific, my wife’s family has owned a seasonal (as in summer only) cottage on Lake Superior since the 1940’s. The only utility is electric – the privy is down that path. The place is packed for a few days around the holiday – sort of a mini family reunion.

Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 The other event we are hosting is having DW’s parents and younger brother for lunch and dinner (I’m grilling hamburgers). We will stand on our deck after nightfall and watch 6 or 7 different fireworks displays in nearby communities that we can see from our vantage point. 🙂 They’ll spend the night and we’ll feed them breakfast and lunch, depending on when they leave. To that end house cleaning is happening today. 🙂 We love having visitors because they motivate us to clean house! 🙂 Thanks again, have a wonderful holiday, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

There will be a golf cart parade starting around 10:00 a.m. It begins at Escapees CARE and then winds around the neighborhood of houses, through Escapees Rainbow Park and then back to CARE. There will be judges for the carts’ decorations. Late in the afternoon the CARE bus will take a bunch of us over to the Alabama-Coushatta reservation to watch fireworks. (https://www.alabama-coushatta.com/). I’ll be active in taking photos of everything.

Why is it now that I’m retired and have all the time in the world, I do less then my working years. Driving any distance at night is a chore.

If we can stay awake long enough, this will be the first time in over 20 years that we will be able to see fireworks from our driveway. The town is moving the display to a local golf course instead of the high school parking lot.

I had thought about traveling to Neal Davis’ place to watch all the firework shows, but alas, an unforeseen home repair got in the way…🙄 😂

Forecast is for the temperature to be over 110, so, not planning to join in the outside fun.

Going to our town’s 4th of July parade, concert in local park later, making homemade ice cream, then fireworks at 9:00.

All fireworks are illegal where I live in fire-prone California. But that does not stop the hundreds of criminal psychopaths around me who shoot off an all night barrage of sky rockets and very loud exploding ordnance with absolutely no consideration for the pets, veterans with PTSD, or people with mental health issues who teeter on the edge of suicide thanks to these uncaring monsters. I will be staying home and checking my property frequently to make sure nothing has caught on fire. Local law enforcement is powerless to stop them, while law abiding citizens live in fear.

We don’t do anything during these “amateur hour” times of the year called holidays. Too many maniacs out there anymore.

Fireworks one block east of us, six blocks north of us and about 10 blocks west of us and a whole bunch of illegal works going off until about 2:00 am. I will probably go out and watch but wife will be inside hugging the dog.

Watching the parade in our small community then when all the fireworks start going off legal and otherwise try to keep the dog calm so we don’t get to see them anyway. Could certainly do without the fireworks.

I see almost half are not doing anything to celebrate the 4th. That is serious apathy. The 4th is a big deal for us. May the USA stay strong and forever free.

Hi, Bill. I’ve been considering replying to your comment since I first saw it last night (wasn’t going to, but changed my mind). I’m one of those who don’t “celebrate” the 4th by blowing up hundreds of dollars worth of fireworks, or pig out at a BBQ, or whatever. I don’t think those things are necessary to make me/us patriotic, and not doing those things doesn’t make us apathetic. To each his own. But I hope you, and every other proud American, have a wonderful and safe Fourth of July, no matter how/if anyone “celebrates” it. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
