Food poisoning is NO fun. And we mean NO FUN! It can be pretty serious if you get it bad, and it can certainly ruin a trip.
At least if you got sick in an RV, you’d have your own bathroom (hopefully) nearby… We just hope nobody ever experiences food poisoning while tent camping!
Have you ever experienced food poisoning while RVing? If so, do you know what it was from? Did your partner get it, too, or just you? Was it from something you cooked or was it at a restaurant? Does it still make you sick just thinking about that food today?
After you vote, please leave a comment and tell us your food poisoning story (if you can stand it…). Although, please spare us the dirty details. We don’t want to hear about, well, you know…
Thanks, we appreciate it.
P.S. Want to know a little secret? Chuck (Woodbury) got food poisoning while camped inside Zion National Park. Yep. He said he thought it was from the mayo on a deli sandwich he bought earlier that day. That’s one trip to Zion he’ll never forget…
TAKE ANOTHER POLL:
- Have you ever had a bear wander into your campsite?
- If given the choice between vanilla, chocolate or strawberry ice cream, which would you pick?
- How do you feel about your RVer neighbors hanging out wind chimes?
- How many nights in a row do you wear the same pajamas?

Don’t Remember any Cases, but my memory is not perfect, so I would say MAYBE.
Even if your memory isn’t good, I’m sure you’d remember if you did.
The only time I experienced food poisoning was from airline food.
We were always ok. However, our yellow lab was sick from a bad bag of dog food. Cut our trip short.
Only once. Stopped for the night at a casino in Tonopah nv. We both ate French onion soup and the rest of the night was not fun.
I haven’t but my husband has…only thing he ate that I didn’t was some fudge from a street vender. He was so sick!
Chinese buffet…avoid like the plague.
Never as I do most of the food prep at home and when RVing. We only eat out occasionally at either Burger King or some ritzy restaurant. Just keep the hot food hot and the cold food cold.
Thank you for the question, RV Travel! No, not that I recall. I did go to an urgent care place (left side of Decatur, Indiana emergency room waiting area) for some reason once. Otherwise, no medical problems while RVing. Have a great day and safe travels!
About 15 years ago, I got food poisoning at a fast-food burger stand inside a casino in Las Vegas (I won’t say which one, but it is directly across LV Blvd., opposite Caesars Palace). We think the French fries were cooked in rancid oil. My friend didn’t eat as many fries as I did, and he got a milder case of food poisoning. We both got sick about 5-6 hours after eating. I should have called the Health Dept and reported it. I would have expected this from a buffet, not at a burger stand. It ruined one full day of my vacation. I’ve never returned to that Hotel/Casino.
