Have you taken a multi-day boat cruise in the last five years?

Sure, we love traveling by wheels on land, but cruises are fun too, aren’t they? Do you enjoy taking a break from RVing and hopping aboard a cruise ship every now and again?

Ocean cruises offer a completely different kind of adventure. Instead of driving from campsite to campsite, you’re gliding across open waters. It’s a chance to trade the hum of your RV for the sound of waves, with all-inclusive dining, nightly entertainment, and a whole lot of other amenities!

Whether it’s sipping cocktails on the deck, dining at a specialty restaurant, or enjoying a live show in the evening, there’s something special about life at sea. (But not as special as RVing, right?)

For RVers, cruising can also be a great way to take a “vacation from your vacation.” Let’s face it—while RVing is rewarding, it comes with its own set of tasks: setting up camp, maintaining your rig, and planning your routes. On a cruise, all of that is done for you. Want to soak in a hot tub without worrying about the water level? Or enjoy gourmet meals without washing a single dish? Cruises are the perfect excuse to kick back and let someone else take the wheel, er, helm…

In today’s poll, we want to know if you’ve taken a multi-day ocean cruise in the last five years. If so, have you taken one more than once? Twice? Three times? More?!

After you vote, please leave a comment and tell us where you went. Did you explore the sun-drenched Caribbean, chase the northern lights on an Alaskan voyage, or maybe experience the old-world charm of a Mediterranean itinerary? Make us jealous! We’d love to hear all about your favorite destinations. Thanks!

LIKE TAKING POLLS? So do we! Did you know we’ve run more than 5,000 polls on our website over the years? Check ’em out! Have fun!

I took many of them from 1997 to 1993 when I retired from the U.S. Navy and then from 1999 to 2004 when we had a 24 1/2 foot cabin cruiser we used on Lake Michigan. Loved it, but had to quit due to medical issues.

Last time was in 1992 on the (then) world’s largest cruise ship. More 3X the number of people than the village our home is in. We had a good time but not so great as to knock other items off our bucket list.

We took a 7-Day cruise in 2022 for our 50th anniversary. It was interesting but no desire to do it again.

No. And no desire to do so.

Last year was Alaska. Our daughter paid for it as an anniversary cruise, for our 50th, a year early. This year was Honduras for the Mayan ruins and other sights, from Galveston. We camped overnight in our rooftop tent on our Jeep in the state park before putting it in long term parking for the week. Unfortunately it was under a tree full of ants. Took a week to get rid of those…
20 years in the Navy, sea intensive rate, I did many ‘cruises’.

We take at least one cruise a year and often 2, we leave this Friday and will be back Christmas Eve. We also have a family cruse planned for 2026 spring break and will plan one with friends in the fall.

We likely never will. My wife gets sick on boats.

Rather than drive there, we recently took a cruise to Hawaii. It was surprising how many fellow travelers were also RVers. We love travel and cruising to places we can’t take our coach is a fun alternative.

We don’t go on cruises for the same reasons we boondock.

Absolutely, we have enjoyed the American cruise line river boat cruises, and in September We went Portland up to the Columbia and Snake Rivers following the Lewis and Clark expedition, only 150 passengers. The food was absolutely fantastic. They take care of you so well and nearly all the excursions were included. It is more for retired age people, but absolutely enjoyable!

We only do small boat river cruises. Have gone to Germany, Vietnam, and this fall, to Scotland on a barge canal boat — only 12 pax. Big boats (19 floors !!) are N-O-T for us !!
