Over the last year, did you spend any of your time helping out and volunteering somewhere, formally or informally?
For today’s poll, we’re curious: Have you performed any volunteer work in the last 12 months?
For some of you, volunteering is a regular part of life. You might help out regularly at a food bank, walk dogs at the local animal shelter, support a local charity, lend a hand at a campground, or volunteer through an organization you care deeply about. Giving time can feel rewarding in ways that are hard to measure and many RVers say it’s one of the best ways to connect with a community, even briefly, while on the road.
Others would like to volunteer more but haven’t been able to this past year. Health, travel schedules, caregiving responsibilities, or simply the pace of life can make it difficult to commit. We know life is busy.
Then there are those who support causes in different ways. Maybe you donate instead of volunteering in person, help neighbors informally, or step in when someone needs a hand without labeling it as “volunteer work.”
So what about you? In the last 12 months, have you volunteered your time in any way? Go ahead and vote in today’s poll—and if you feel like sharing what you’ve done, we’d love to hear about it. Thank you!

In winter while being in a warm climate, I volunteer a couple of times a week at a nearby botanical garden. It helps me keep in shape for gardening when I return home. I also enjoy the resident garden pets, since we decided not to intentionally get any travel companions for now.
I also collect water samples for county water monitoring once a month in my hometown. It gets me out of the house early one Saturday of the month.
I highly recommend volunteering. It’s a great way to help out and gain new experiences.
During summer while we are stationary (we are snowbirds), I drive rescued dogs to shelters and rescues. The dogs come from out-of-state overcrowded shelters and end up in rescues where they are adopted.
Being physically disabled, there is not to much I could do that would interest me and benefit anyone else.
Hi Ed: Sorry you have to endure a physical disability and hope this finds you well; however, if your mind is sharp and you have the use of arms and hands – there are several things you can do, within limits of course. Some disabled do have some time and abilities. God bless!
I volunteer one morning a week at my church working with a few other guys to maintain the building and grounds. Sometimes that has involved hauling food for the local food bank.
My time volunteering has been ad hoc the past few years. Now that we are getting our post-retirement life more organized, I will be seeking more regular volunteer opportunities in both our north and south seasonal locations.
Now into my 37th year on the community association executive. It gets me out of the house, off my a$$ and away from my computer plus I meet such wonderful people. Other great places to volunteer is canvassing for a good cause, food banks and reading to children in the hospital when so many are away from home. So many organizations can use a few hours of your time every month if you’re able.
At Escapees CARE, I lead a chair exercise class six days a week, play piano/organ for a non-denominational worship service each Sunday and take photos of all our activities. I also am involved with the prison ministry of the church in Austin, Texas where I used to attend (correspondence Bible studies). I hope this is enough to keep the Booger Man at bay. 🙂
Yes. I maintain the books for two non profits and have done so for more than 10 years. It’s a way to keep my mind sharp and focused doing something I love.
Does taking out the garbage/trash out count.
Of course! If you do it voluntarily, that is.🤔🤣 Have a good evening/night, Don. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
I wish there was an “embarrassingly no” column to check.
