Dog-friendly restaurants with special menus and treats across the U.S.

Did you know that you can order specialty dog-friendly menu items from dog-friendly restaurants? It’s true! Here’s where to find these often-unadvertised dog-friendly eateries.

Starbucks: “Puppuccino”

If you’re a coffee lover, you may have heard about Starbucks’ “Puppuccino.” This tiny cup of whipped cream is free! All you do is ask for it when ordering your own drink. This favorite pup treat is simple, sweet, and a fun way to include your dog on your coffee run. Most Starbucks locations are happy to provide a “Puppuccino,” and the experience is Instagram-worthy for sure!

Dairy Queen: “Pup Cup”

At participating Dairy Queen locations, your dog can enjoy a “Pup Cup.” Dogs receive a small serving of soft-serve vanilla ice cream. It’s a delicious, dog-approved treat, especially on hot days. Just ask when you order, and they’ll often hand over the “Pup Cup” with a friendly smile.

Remember, moderation is key since dairy products can be tough for some dogs to digest, but a little treat every once in a while is a fun way to make them feel included.

Shake Shack: Dog-friendly menu options

Shake Shack has gone above and beyond with a special dog menu. It includes items like the “Bag O’ Bones,” a small bag of tasty dog biscuits made by a pet bakery, and the “Pooch-ini,” a combination of dog biscuits, peanut butter sauce, and vanilla custard. (Note: this one isn’t suitable for dogs with dairy sensitivities.)

Shake Shack’s pet-friendly menu items make it a great spot to grab a burger and enjoy a meal with your four-legged friend by your side.

In-N-Out Burger: “Pup Patty”

In-N-Out has an unofficial dog-friendly item: the “Pup Patty.” This is a plain, unseasoned hamburger patty that you can order specifically for your pup. Just make sure to ask for it without salt, and your dog will have their own special burger treat. This is a great option for a dog-friendly drive-through meal!

Tim Hortons: “Timbits”

Tim Hortons locations offer “Timbits” (small donut holes) without any sugar coating, which they occasionally give out to dogs. Just let them know it’s for your dog, and they can make sure it’s a plain, safe treat. Not all Tim Hortons offer this, so it may be worth checking ahead.

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar: Full dog-friendly restaurant menu

With locations all over the U.S., Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar lives up to its name with an entire menu created just for dogs! They offer items like grilled hamburger patties, chicken breast, and brown rice.

The food is served on their outdoor patio, so you and your dog can sit together and enjoy a meal. This restaurant’s commitment to offering a safe, quality dining experience for both dogs and owners makes it a top choice.

Sprinkles Cupcakes: “Doggie Cupcakes”

Sprinkles, the popular cupcake shop, offers a unique treat just for dogs. Their “Doggie Cupcakes” are sugar-free and made with ingredients that are safe for canine consumption, such as yogurt and honey. Perfect for special occasions or just because, Sprinkles locations with outdoor seating make it easy to enjoy a treat with your pup in tow.

Panera Bread: “Pup Pastry”

Some Panera locations offer a “Pup Pastry” or “Pup Cookie,” although it may not be available everywhere. It’s worth asking about, especially if you’re stopping by for a quick bite with your dog. The pastry is generally a small, plain treat, suitable for dogs and an ideal way to include them in the Panera experience.

Tips for dining out with your dog

When you head to any of these dog-friendly places, here are a few tips to keep your outing smooth:

  • Check policies. Not all locations offer these items, so call ahead to confirm if they have a dog menu or treats on hand.
  • Bring water. Even if treats are provided, bring a bowl or bottle for your dog’s hydration, especially in hot weather.
  • Respect the space. Keep your dog on a leash and ensure they’re comfortable and calm in public settings.
  • Ask about ingredients. If your dog has food sensitivities, ask staff about ingredients in any dog treats they may offer.

Fun food with Fido experience

Dining out with your dog can add a lot of fun to your day. These eateries offer something for every pet palate. From coffee shops to burger joints, more places are making sure your dog doesn’t have to miss out on the fun. So next time you’re out, treat your pup to these dog-friendly delights!

Those are good ideas, some I hadn’t heard of. Usually, he just gets a bite of my burger. I watch his weight.

In Central California in Avila Beach, the restaurant Custom House has a dog menu. You can have your dog with you at the outdoor patio only. My dog looooooves it!

Thank you, Gail! I will try to remember that Dairy Queen has small size ice cream for dogs. We sometimes eat at First Watch (a regional breakfast place) and dog #3 has joined us on the patio there. So, too, did dog #2. Have a great day, a good Thanksgiving, and safe travels!
