National Doughnut Day is celebrated each year on the first Friday in June. That means today (June 7) is a day to forget the diet and indulge in a special doughnut treat. Best of all, you just might score some free or discounted doughnuts!
Doughnut holiday?
Yes, National Doughnut Day is an actual holiday. It commemorates the Salvation Army’s “Donut Lassies.” The Lassies were female volunteers for this wonderful organization way back in 1917. Lassies traveled to France to care for soldiers wounded in World War I. They also boosted the morale of the troops on the front lines by making… you guessed it… doughnuts!
Today, the Salvation Army staff and volunteers continue to celebrate National Doughnut Day with special events across the U.S. Check with your local Salvation Army chapter for more information.
Doughnut deals for you
In celebration of the Donut Lassies, several companies will offer special discounts and deals on Friday, June 7, 2024. Here are some special doughnut deals:
- Krispy Kreme. Go inside your favorite Krispy Kreme store and pick up one free doughnut per person, while supplies last. (Sorry, no specialty doughnuts.)
- Dunkin’. Grab a free classic doughnut at Dunkin’ when you purchase any drink. Hurry! This deal is good only while supplies last.
- Voodoo Doughnuts. In celebration of this special day, you can purchase one dozen pink, raised, glazed doughnuts for just $10. Voodoo Doughnuts will even allow pre-orders if you call 661-786-6366.
- LaMar’s Donuts & Coffee. Visit your favorite LaMar’s Donuts on Friday and get a free original glazed doughnut.
- Duck Donuts. No purchase is necessary for you to get a free cinnamon sugar doughnut. You just need to stop inside the store.
- Casey’s. Rewards members at Casey’s will receive a free doughnut at any of their locations. But wait! There’s more! Casey’s is extending the doughnut celebration from June 7-16 so that rewards members can buy a half dozen doughnuts for just $4.99. (FYI, a rewards membership is free!)
- Honey Dew Donuts. Purchase a medium-sized drink and Honey Dew will give you a free donut! Yum!
- Tim Horton’s. Open the Tim Horton’s app or go online to activate your order for a free doughnut. Pick up your treat at your next visit.
