Winnebago recalls trailers after siding blows off in transit

After receiving reports of siding blowing off some of its RVs, Winnebago has called more than 400 rigs back for a fix. The trailer trouble recall is because metal siding shooting down the highway can be a road hazard.

Background

The Winnebago trailer trouble was found this way. In late August, Winnebago product safety was notified that a unit had experienced loose metal siding detaching in transit. An investigation was opened, and containment actions were put in place.

During the investigation, it was found that four other units had experienced loose metal siding, and in some cases, metal falling off in transit.

On September 6, 2024, the Product Safety Committee met to review the investigation and decided the issue presented an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. Winnebago is unaware of any accidents, injuries, or property damage because of this condition.

I guess RV siding has become Rocket Science?

Thank you, Russ and Tina! 🙂 Well, this is quite a problem, huh? 🤔😯 🙁 The siding may separate in transit, go flying, and create mayhem, injuries, and worse. Then there is the additional problem of retaining the heating or cooling with part of an exterior wall missing. Yikes! As Kelly notes, it does look as though properly assembling an RV must now be rocket science, given how difficult doing it correctly appears to be. 🤔😯 🙁 Thanks again, have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
