In the video below, we join Izzy and MJ of Endless RVing, one of the winners of our 2024 RV video awards, for a discussion of an RV explosion accident that recently happened at a truck stop in Pennsylvania. The most shocking part? The RV’s owner was inside!
Despite the proximity to the RV explosion, the local Fox affiliate news report stated that two people were injured in the blast. Thankfully, nobody was killed, which is hard to believe when you see the ferocity of the explosion.
Apparently, the accident was caused by a propane leak coupled with someone smoking directly outside the RV.
The video concludes with some RV propane safety tips to help you avoid a similar tragic outcome:
- Turn your propane tanks off while driving.
- Use an emergency propane shut off valve.
- Use propane detectors.
- Check that your stove is properly turned off after use.
- Never use your RV’s propane stove for heat.
- Regularly pressure test your propane system.
- Your nose knows, be aware of the smell of propane.

Simple, quit smoking!
If that was your ONLY takeaway, I think you need to rewatch the video.
Some excellent points but misleading title -as there was no picture of explosion and could have made same points without all excess verbiage
“See an RV explode with the owner inside.” Did I miss something? I saw a long winded video, but didn’t see an RV explode with the owner inside.
Yep, clickbait.
All talk, no video of the explosion!
Can’t fix stupid.
Thank you for the reminders, Cheri! Happy new year and safe travels! 🙂
