A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the successful prosecution of those responsible for killing 19 wild burros. The reward offer has been posted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) office in Needles, California.
I-15 killings spanned California to Nevada

The $10,000 reward offer stems from an ongoing investigation. On August 13, 2019, 19 wild burros were found dead along Interstate 15 between Baker, California, and Primm, Nevada. The BLM says it has “two vehicles of interest” in the case. One is a gray or silver 2008 Toyota extended cab pickup with flared fenders and a brush guard. The other is a white 2008 Toyota extended cab pickup with a white camper shell, white rims, sunroof, and brush guard.

Both these vehicles were caught on security camera video together on August 13, 2019, at 6:32 in the morning. The images were caught in the parking lot of Whiskey Pete’s Hotel and Casino in Primm, Nevada.
The weapon used to kill the wild burros is said to be a .30-06 caliber rifle. It’s possibly vintage, based on the rifling of the projectiles recovered. The shells could have been manufactured by Browning, Remington, Springfield, U.S. Military Arms, or Winchester. The rifle is chambered for .30-06 Springfield ammunition. Special agents believe those responsible used reloaded ammunition. It was marked with red/orange paint on the bottom of the cartridges.
Why a $10,000 reward?
Some may wonder, “What’s the big deal with a few donkeys?” The animals are federally protected under the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971. The Act protects wild, free-roaming horses and burros from capture, branding, harassment, or death; and considers them an integral part of the natural system of public lands managed by BLM.

Too many SICK people out there !
This is truly shocking and senseless. I hope they catch these sub human animals and prosecute them accordingly. -Make an example by publicly shaming. -An outrage of the highest magnitude.
Shame is a lost concept in today’s society.
Revolting. Some years it is the wild mustang population too. Revolting.
Scary story, sick people, but why did it take nearly 4 1/2 years to come out?
Government inefficiency.
Thank you, Russ and Tina! I do hope they catch the killers. Pointless killings of animals is an especially cruel and borderline unforgiveable action (perhaps there is a justification, but I cannot construct one) that arguably justifies tortu*e of the culprits as part of the punishment. 🙁 [Sorry, Neal. I had to edit the word or it was completely bleeped by our filter. -Diane]
Thanks, Diane! I didn’t guess that it was a “fobidden” word. I’ll try to remember to substite an asterisk for a letter if I think the filter won’t like it. I have seen others do this in other places and now see why. Thank you! I’ll try to fly righter in the future. 🙂
You’re welcome, Neal. Actually, when you see an asterisk in someone’s “forbidden” word, usually I’ve put it in so it doesn’t show up as [bleeped].😉 But since I found where the list of “forbidden” words is, I went in and removed your recently used word from the list. (Shhh.🤫 Don’t tell anyone.) BTW, don’t miss our newsletter tomorrow. I think you’ll see someone you recognize in there.😉 Have a good night. –Diane
