In 2021 more than 64 million people used hair coloring products and the industry made $29 billion. In America, 75 percent of American women dye their hair, and more women dye their hair blonde than any other color.

As a former red head my hair now has taken a white color(we don’t turn gray), the one benefit of being red haired. Always hated my red hair as it always gave me away, “that red headed boy did it”. Now they say “that old white haired man did it”. Lol
I’m female and don’t intentionally color my hair but I do get perms and that helps to lighten my naturally light brown hair. There is gray but it isn’t prominent yet (I’m almost 75). I’m fine with gray. I’m not fine with straight hair, so I continue to get perms for more “body.”
My wife says she always wanted to be a natural platinum blonde, and now she is!
My hair is mostly grey – I’ve earned every single one of them.
Stopped coloring 6 years ago cause it pained me to pay a lot of money every 4 weeks for color that was never right, no matter who I went to or how much I paid. Now retired, we are on the road 4-6 months and I no longer have to worry about my roots showing. I constantly get compliments on my color and women come up to me saying I wear it well!
I will say there is also some age discrimination and attitude that I feel sometimes.
As it grays, it grays. As it falls out, it falls out. I just let nature do it’s thing. 🙂
Hair? Don’t recall what that means.
I’m a woman and I’ve been going gray since my 40’s. I’m 66 now and I’ve been coloring my hair for many years. I’ve been thinking about going natural but it’s a hard process to go from dark brown to almost white. And I’m not quite sure I’m ready to have white hair. What a change that would be!
I don’t use dyes; I use vanishing cream. And it WORKS!
Never have myself personally, (70) but I’ve seen some men who really screwed up their hair. And a few women. What’s really funny is the men usually deny it til their dying day.

If I had somewhere to put the color, then I might. I figure it won’t be much attractive to color my scalp. 😉
I just turned seventy, and my hair is still my natural auburn color. My husband tells people he robbed the cradle!
I colored my hair from 16 to 50. At 50, I decided enough was enough and stopped. I’m lucky in that my “gray” is actually white and people compliment me all the time on how pretty it is and that if theirs was this color they wouldn’t color it either. Finally have a color I like and it doesn’t come out of a bottle!
I started graying in my 20’s, I’ve had white hair for decades. When I was young, they said I looked distinguished. now they tell me I just look old.

Used to color it but quit about 5 years ago~ sooooooo GLAD I stopped!
me too. my hair always grew out an inch within 2 days of coloring it. I looked like a skunk. My daughter called me Pepe LePew
No coloring for me, just let nature take its course in that area.
My hairdresser colours it whatever shade she feels like doing – normally auburn with gold highlights. Natural is a mousy dishwater brown. Have had the same 30 strands of gray for 40 years.
I find women with gray or graying hair more attractive than women who color their hair. I wonder if other men find the same attractiveness I do?
Left out a choice…..I used to color my hair…. and decided that it was too expensive and a pain to keep it looking presentable in a sunny climate. As it turns out…it’s snow white and I get compliments on it all the time. Much better than fake!

I guess I’m kind of lucky. I’m 71 with a full head of hair and just now starting to get some graying at the temples. I’m okay with that.
I stopped coloring my hair by 2nd year of full time living non-stationary. First because the upkeep was a pain (storm cloud grey with not the pretty silver). Then I just recently had some silver highlights done for volume. I developed an allergic reaction. At this point, I only fix my hair (gel, style) when we go out to dinner. Less is more and simpler. Commander is mostly bald, so no hair color there.

Human beings do stupid things when young. I was a darkening blond in my teens so colored it to be a lighter blond. Colored it for 2 of my son’s weddings and had it styled so I wouldn’t embarrass him. Nowadays I’m almost a natural platinum blond and my hairdo is- when a hair annoys me I chop it off. Nice and short, Easy care. Besides, chemicals in hair coloring cause cancer. Nothing quite as unattractive to me is an old wrinkled lady with dark brown hair
