2024 Cherokee Grey Wolf 29NM travel trailer with office or two bedrooms

In the video above we join Scott Hudgins from Yorktown, Virginia’s Dodd RV (family-owned and operated since 1956!) for a tour of the 2024 Cherokee Grey Wolf 29NM travel trailer by Forest River.

This is a large bunkhouse trailer that would be perfect for families or as a hunting or fishing lodge camp base for fun with groups of friends. There’s a private large bunk area in the back, a master bedroom in the front, and, of course, more sleeping space available from the dinette and sofas.

But this bunkhouse is not typical of what you’re used to in most RVs. The large, private room in the back has plenty of sleeping space, but also is a comfortable and private living or work space with sofas, a dinette, and plenty of storage space. For families, it’s a great kids’ room. For full-timers or digital nomads, it’s a full-size office.

I like the innovative “Zebra shades” and have not seen these before (watch the video). They can let in full light, half-light, or block out the light entirely.

I like the kitchen sink with its built-in cutting board and built-in over-sink dish drainer, and I like the large pantry. There’s a flush mount cover on the 3-burner range, which is good because counter space is limited. Also, there is a convection microwave with an air fryer option, and a Furrion 12-volt refrigerator/freezer.

The bath is not remarkable, but it’s perfectly functional.

The bedroom has lots of storage, but some is lost to a separate entrance here. I do like that the under-bed storage is also accessible from outside.

Another nice feature is that the spare tire rack folds down and converts to a rack to haul bikes or other gear.

This trailer is ready for outdoor parties with a pull-out outdoor kitchen with a refrigerator, ice maker, and cooktop, propane grill quick connect, outdoor speakers, and an outdoor TV mount.

More nice features of the 2024 Cherokee Grey Wolf 29NM

  • Power awning
  • Rooftop solar
  • Ducted AC
  • Fireplace
  • Tankless on-demand water heater
  • Outdoor shower
  • Outdoor speakers
  • Built-in outdoor leash latch to attach a pet leash to
  • The dual-hinged fridge can open from either side

What’s not to like?

The bunkroom has storage cubbies without doors or even cargo nets. The same goes for a large storage area in the bathroom. I am not sure what is up with this trend that I am seeing more and more frequently, but I don’t like it. Find another way to cut costs!

Kitchen counter space is sparse. While I like the large pantry, it would have been nicer if it was a pullout pantry.

If you are over 6’4” tall, you will have to crouch in the shower.

Since the bedroom has an emergency escape window, I would have rather they left out the second door and put in another closet. But that’s me.

Dodd is actually in Yorktown, Virginia. Grew up here and noticed he was kind of hard to understand when he said where they were located.

Thanks, Helen! It’s been corrected. I didn’t watch the video myself, so didn’t notice the error when I was proofing the post for typos. Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com

While the fold-down spare tire sounds like a good idea, I don’t think it is. When you let the tire down so you can pile stuff on that rack, you’ve already got 50-60 pounds of tire weight on it. Put a generator or coolers or both on there and you have the makings of those carriers we see all the time bent way down from too much weight. I like the sliding windows. They make for LOTS of fresh air circulation. Two different kinds of stairs? What’s that about? Too many beds (or bed-like foldies) for my liking. If you actually had that many people sleeping in there, where would they go once they all got up?

I like the small escape door from the bunk room. Much better than the escape window design we have – especially at the head of the bed! Looks like about 2′ x 4′?

CCC = 1047# – 52 gallons of water x 8.3#/gal = 615# of cargo. So, this trailer can sleep 6-8 people, but has only about 600# of carrying capacity for clothes, bed linens, towels, food, dishes, cups and glasses, eating utensils, pots, pans, batteries, propane, water and sewer hoses, leveling blocks, tools, bikes on that fold-down spare tire, etc., etc? Sounds about right for RV designers who have never camped in an RV!

Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 Looks like a great RV, especially the office in the rear! 🙂 I’m not as convinced about it being a great “lodge,” given the electricity needs (battery needs?). Still is a great floorplan for living and working, or lots of humans traveling/camping. 🙂 Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂
