5 bread recipes to make on a cozy fall day

Purple Ribbon Winning Crescent Rolls

by Kathy Carlson from San Diego, CA

These fluffy and buttery crescent rolls will go with any meal. They have the texture of a dinner roll, but they’re shaped like a crescent roll. Outside is slightly crisp and inside they’re light and fluffy.

This recipe makes a lot of rolls, so it would be good when planning a holiday dinner menu or when you have to serve a crowd. Here’s the recipe.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

by Tamera Gish from Hardy, VA

These sweet dinner rolls are perfect for a weeknight dinner or holiday meal. They’re rich and slightly dense with a subtle sweetness. A touch of salt balances out the flavors.

We were able to get 2 dozen rolls. If you need 3 dozen, make them slightly smaller. Get the recipe here.

Twisty Sista’ Breadsticks

by Gina Davis from Cedar Bluff, VA

These breadsticks make your kitchen smell amazing while baking. They are slightly crisp outside and pillowy soft inside. Incorporating basil into the dough adds a slight basil flavor but does not overpower the bread. Roasted garlic, though, does add robust flavor. We highly recommend roasting your own. You can add extra roasted garlic to the melted butter for more flavor.

These were great dipped in marinara sauce. But, you could enjoy them with soup, a pasta dish or a salad. Click here for the recipe.

Homemade King Hawaiian Rolls Or Loaf

by Linda Bailey from Sterling Heights, MI

As far as homemade bread goes, this is fairly easy to make. The results are unlike any other bread we’ve made. It is sweet and rich in flavor.

If you make rolls, they’re buttery, light, and fluffy. Here’s the recipe.

Buttermilk Honey Bread

by Kim Kelemen from Cuba, MO

There’s nothing better than the smell of fresh-baked bread. This bread is tender and moist but has plenty of texture to slice. There’s a subtle sweetness. It’s perfect for a sandwich or to serve on the side of any dish. Using a dough hook makes kneading a cinch. It could also be done the old-fashioned way by hand if you don’t have a stand mixer.

Serve warm with a pat of butter for a mid-afternoon treat. Get the recipe here.
