Crazy RV shower faucet placement—Turn it on with your toes?!

Today we’re sharing the story of our recent project involving a third replacement of the shower pan, RV shower faucet, and the surround wall in a 2022 Northwood Arctic Fox. This task presented several challenges, but with teamwork, dedication, and the initiative of the RV owner, we achieved a successful outcome. Make sure you watch the short video first to see what we’re dealing with.

The problem

The original installation by the manufacturer had issues that surfaced after a short period of use. The shower pan and surround wall began to crack, rendering the shower unusable. Fortunately, the owner reached out to us for assistance, allowing us to step in and provide a solution.

One of the critical problems was the impractical placement of the RV shower faucet, which was installed too low to the base pan. This made using the shower inconvenient. As part of the replacement process, we relocated the faucet to a more practical height, improving functionality.

Refrigerator and plumbing

In addition to replacing the shower components, we addressed issues with the plumbing that required removing the refrigerator. This step was necessary to correct the plumbing and ensure that all systems were in working order.

A cost-saving measure

We greatly appreciate the owner’s proactive approach to strengthening the floor platform before our arrival. This initiative not only provided a solid foundation for the new shower installation but also saved on labor costs, making the entire process more efficient and cost-effective.

At our core, we are committed to delivering high-quality workmanship and ensuring customer satisfaction. Each project, no matter how challenging, is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our dedication to excellence.

Final thoughts

This project is a testament to the importance of thorough inspections and proactive measures in RV maintenance. By addressing issues early and taking necessary actions, we can prevent minor problems from becoming major headaches.

We are grateful to the owner for entrusting us with this project and for taking steps that facilitated a smoother repair process. Together, we’ve turned a problematic situation into a successful repair, ensuring the RV is back on the road with a fully functional and durable shower.

What a poor design. Somebody graduated at the bottom of the class.

I can’t believe Northwood would do this!

Appears to be a new “low” for Northwood, pun intended.

Thank you, Dustin! Interesting the variability in manufacturer construction, huh? 🤔 Have a great week and safe travels!
