Delays should be expected on Interstate 5 in southern Washington state as lanes will be reduced to complete a bridge rehabilitation project at the North Fork Lewis River Bridge near Woodland.
The project to repair the bridge deck, modify expansion joints and install a polyester concrete overlay on both directions began on July 22 and is expected to take 50 days to complete, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
During this time, delays could be as long as 90 minutes, with three lanes of southbound I-5 reduced to two narrow lanes.
This lane reduction is scheduled to continue 24/7 until mid-September.
Estimated travel times can be found on the North Fork Lewis Bridge project website under the “Maps and Drawings” tab.
All motorists are being asked to travel during off-peak hours to avoid delays. If travel is required during peak hours, WSDOT advises them to fuel up, charge electric vehicles, pack drinking water and expect delays.

Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 Sounds like a great excuse to telework, if ones work is so suited. 😉 Thank you for the information, warning! 🙂 Have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
Bummer..more re-routing to look forward to.
Sorry, Bill! 🙁 Perhaps you can see or stay in places you never knew existed, but are jewels in some way. 🤔 I’d say,”It’s about the journey, not the destination,” but that would be too trite. 🙁 Besides, maybe this trip IS about the destination. Either way, have a great weekend, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
Neal: It’s almost always about the journey, destnations can change on a whim. I have only 1 long ago planned stop in Oregon, for the FMCA rally, with 2 shorter term stops to get there. After that fire and road conditions will possibly determine which direction we’ll head to next.
Ugh. That 5 is always a mess. Thanks for the heads up
I avoid interstates as much as possible. Don’t you too?
