Today’s thought
“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear – not absence of fear.” ―
Need an excuse to celebrate? Today is National Climb A Mountain Day! And if you aren’t able to climb a mountain, perhaps you can celebrate today as National Cheesecake Day instead?
On this day in history: 1962 – The Trans-Canada Highway, the then-longest national highway in the world, is officially opened.
Tip of the day
What is the best place to connect an RV water filter?
Where should an RVer place a water filter on the fresh water intake hose? Should it be placed between the faucet and the hose or between the hose and the RV? Or, does it even matter?
This question comes up often from newbie RVers. From a water flow perspective, it really doesn’t matter.
One popular thought is that it’s best to place an in-line filter or purifier as close to the water source as possible, typically right at the campground spigot.

Brothers build innovative two-story microcamper
By Cheri Sicard
About a year ago we featured another video by President Chay in which he and his brother built their first microcamper. They’ve built a few others since then, but the problem was that all their campers could only sleep one person. No more! The brothers put their skills to work and designed a unique two-story microcamper that can comfortably sleep them both. We get a tour and an overview of the building process in the video below.

How a pig nearly changed U.S. history
By Chuck Woodbury
One of America’s most unusual wars involved only one casualty—a pig—and yet it could have changed the course of history. The bizarre conflict took place on what is now Washington state’s San Juan Island and involved American and British troops, and even warships. Even if you’re not into history, this is fascinating reading.

Cleanup tips for stove parts
“I manage a 175-unit apartment complex and have cleaned more stove parts than you can imagine. Here’s a tip that I use all the time. Simply put all your stove parts including the oven grills in a large garbage bag. Then spray the contents with oven cleaner or sudsy ammonia (avoid the fumes, of course), close up the bag and let them sit overnight. A quick scrub with an SOS pad or steel wool and everything will look brand-new.” Thanks to Steve P.

Dog owners, prepare to laugh at this. Anyone who owns a dog knows this alllllll too well.
And the survey says…

• 9 percent work full-time year-round to pay their bills each month.
• 63 percent of people do not have a favorite day of the week, but the highest percentage of those who did, 10 percent, say Sunday is their favorite.
• When on an airplane, 52 percent prefer the window seat.

Lemon-Dill Shrimp and Pasta
by Belinda Hughes from Cottage Grove, OR
Light and tangy, this pasta dish has tons of flavor. The shrimp and asparagus absorb the flavor from the garlic they’re sauteed in. Once cooked, they’re tossed with pasta and a sauce filled with lemon and dill. The dill makes this lighter meal refreshing. Quick and easy to make, enjoy this hot or cold. Both are equally delicious.

Learned the ammonia tip a long time ago. I keep 2.5 gallon ziplock bags in the RV. The grates on our small grill fit inside. I pour in less than an inch of household ammonia cleaner, zip shut, agitate once and set aside overnight for easy cleanup. For stix & brix with electric glass top stoves, spread a thin film (like maybe 1-2 tbl max) of ammonia cleaner on the glass, seal overnight with plastic food wrap. Same thing, much easier to clean the glass.
I use vinegar on glass top cook stoves…works well.
Ammonia (we use yellow) can also be used to clean ovens. Sponge/spray it on, close the door, and leave it overnight. Wipe entire surface down with hot water next morning. Shines like new!!
LHWAL is cute, who caught the little monster and put the costume on it??

I’m trying to decide if I travel 400 miles north to Britton Hill, Florida – highest elevation in Florida, (elevation 345 feet), to climb a mountain or just settle for cheesecake. I think cheesecake. I just don’t understand why people in the Northwest make such a big deal about mountain climbing – my Class B can make it right up to the elevation marker without any problem.
Hi, Kelly. Yep, we really love our mountains here in the Northwest. My walking buddy was just mentioning last night that she was somewhere (I can’t remember which state) and someone was telling her how to get someplace. “Just go towards that mountain.” “What mountain? I don’t see a mountain. I just see a little hill.” If we didn’t have our mountains here, and I didn’t have my gorgeous mountain property, I’d be “Hill Mama” (sorry, John Denver) instead of “Mountain Mama.”🤣 Have a good evening/night. 😀 –Diane aka Mountain Mama
Sorry, but I don’t think that “Hill Mama” would fit you AT ALL. BTW, Mom was a nurse and on her feet all the time and in her 50s the back pain was more than she could stand. After the Doc checked her out, he told her one leg was shorter than the other and she needed a lift in one shoe. Mom told the Doc that it was probably because she was raised on the farm in the hills of SD and one leg had gotten longer because her childhood was spent walking along those hills. (Where I got my sense of humor, I guess.) SO, watch your step and turn around and walk the other way once-in-a-while, to keep an even keel.
Thanks for the words of advice, Kelly. And yes, it sounds like you got your sense of humor from your mom.👍 I just got back from my walk at the track. Quite a few people up there enjoying the very pleasant evening. If I walked clockwise around the track, I’d be dodging oncoming traffic the whole time. It’s bad enough just trying to stay out of the way of runners coming up behind me. Yeah, they can go around me, but with all of those lanes I figure it’s the least I can do to just move out of their way. Take care. 😀 –Diane
On my computer, right above the pets of the day, was and advert headline “Clean the Shower in 60 Seconds” and right below were the two cute dogs both with their tongues hanging out. It took me a minute.
That’s too funny, Kelly!🤣 Have a good night. 😀 –Diane
