Police bodycam footage of the aftermath of a wild motorhome chase from last month has been released. The rollicking Class C chase took off in Kearns, Utah, on March 19 when an RVer decided to take off after being stopped by police.
Wild motorhome chase results in four cars clobbered
According to the officer’s report, “As I approached on the passenger side, the RV reversed and rammed my police cruiser and fled the scene.” Another police took off on a chase. Before the 10-minute pursuit ended, at least four other cars were clobbered. One of them rolled over on the roadway.
The van that was hit and rolled was the last vehicle the RV took out. The impact forced the older Fleetwood Jamboree up onto the median, high-centering and ending the powered chase. It was at that point that the driver, James Daniel Harper, tried to hoof it—but only made it 15 feet before being caught by his police pursuers. Another person in the rig was pulled out but was later turned loose.
Not his first rodeo
It wasn’t Harper’s first rodeo. He was convicted in 2022 of failing to stop at the command of police. This time for his wild motorhome chase, his charges included that repeat offense, and added five counts of failing to remain at an accident involving injury. Add to these, being an alcohol-restricted driver, not having an ignition interlock device in his vehicle, and driving on a suspended license.

Thank you, Russ and Tiňa! 🙂 My goodness! That was something. I guess it is just as well that we did not see any of the accidents, but only some of the aftermath. It might make him (i.e., Harper) an internet sensation. Thank you for calling this to our attention and safe travelsl! 🙂
ANOTHER fine example of the adage: “You can’t fix STUPID!”
