He won’t be breaking any speed records in his new ride, but the famous, two-time Daytona 500 winner is still excited. Look who’s RVing! It’s Dale Earnhardt Jr.
On Saturday, Earnhardt posted on his X account (formerly Twitter) about his new endeavor. What helped the racing star to choose his new ride? “Lots of consideration on what was right for my family,” Earnhardt posted. Just like many RVers, Earnhardt offered the reason for his new ride. He said, “Gonna’ go make some memories this year.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s new RV
RVers were curious to find out which RV Earnhardt bought. Would it be a fifth wheel toy hauler? Or maybe a unique, two-story rig pulled by a semi? No, on both counts. He bought a 2024 Keystone Cougar 364BHL Midnight Edition from Camping World.

Not alone
Earnhardt is not alone. There are several other famous folks who own and use their RVs. Check out Matthew McConaughey’s Airstream here. Other celebs with RV’s include Will Smith, Kelly Pickler, Vin Diesel, Simon Cowell, John Mayer, Dolly Parton (here’s her RV), Robert De Niro, John Stamos, and more!
Surprised
While the racing world may have been surprised by Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s RV announcement, RVers like us understand. Making memories, seeing different places, and meeting new people are more important to us than the need for speed. Here’s wishing Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his family many happy (and safe) miles ahead!

I’m just going to assume that Dale Jr. is going to get a whole lot better service from CW than the rest of the folks around the country have been receiving.
Thank you, Gail! Interesting that this is his “first” RV. Usually NASCAR drivers have bus conversions parked on the infield of the track for the weekend of the race. This gives the driver (usually also the driver’s family) a nice comfy lair in proximity to the track from which to operate. I am surprised that Dale Jr. had no RV while he raced. Safe travels! 🙂
Hi, Neal. It wasn’t his first RV. The title inadvertently said that before I had a chance to proof the post. I changed that as soon as I saw it, but unfortunately it was after it had been published and “out there” for awhile.🙄 Have a good night, Neal. 😀 –Diane
Thank you, Diane! 🙂 Hmm, … the mystery deepens (?). Now I find it interesting that he went from a tricked out, more or less, bus conversion to a fifth wheel. Maybe, probably (?), he wanted more room for the kiddies? Or something more like a second home?
He says he’s gonna go make memories with his family in their new RV. But I see he’s tagged Camping World on his message on “X”, and Marcus you-know-who also weighed in, so I’m sure they have some deal going on there. Which is perfectly fine, as opposed to at least one of our readers who is put out that we would write this story since it’s “connected” to CW. Oh, well. As Dale Earnhardt Jr. knows, “Ya win some, ya lose some.”😉 Have a good night. 😀 –Diane
We’ve only Weagle, so I would have kept the bus conversion (which maybe too conspicious (?) and why he opted for a production fifth wheel?) if I had one already AND I would NOT have consorted with CW. But I guess Dale Jr is way, way smarter than red-neck hillbillies such as yours truly. 😉 Glad RV Travel reports the good and the bad. It’s called integrity. 😊 Good night, Diane! 🙂
Thanks, Neal. I will have a good night.👍 –Diane
Just my thoughts, if anyone has followed here and other places, so many have unpleasant experiences with CW, it’s only their fault if they shop there and are unhappy.
Some folks just don’t listen.
It took me two times with two different dealers. I received the same unpleasant results.
Anyone want to buy my Bilstien Shocks with a broken top with only the 200 miles from Tacoma to my home?
I was told I have to take them 200 miles back to get relief.
Ya-sure-you bet’cha. It’s a Ballard Wa, statement…
Thanks for your comment, Joyce. (Wish I could call you by your correct name. This always feels weird to me.) Anyway, I’m surprised you’re referencing Ballard. My maternal great-grandmother lived there many decades ago, then my grandparents lived between Ballard and Green Lake, so I’m pretty familiar with the area. Plus, my neighbors of 50+ years graduated from high school there, I think in ’67. And my dad grew up in Pomeroy, and my grandparents lived there until they died, so I spent quite a bit of time over on the “dry side” of the state as well. Have a good night, fellow Washingtonian. 😀 –Diane
The drivers don’t drive those big motor homes, there is a hired driver that also has another role while at the track. I doubt the drivers own them either. Probably the team buys it for the driver to use.
Thanks, Gary. Interesting. I saw an RV show several years ago (5-7?) and a former driver was shopping for a used bus conversion at Liberty Coach. Somewhere in that show I got the idea that the drivers owned their RV, but they may have played fast and loose with a fact or two, or I presumed too much. Given how far it can be between tracks, I should not be surprised that the drivers fly and someone else drives. Safe travels! 🙂
I’m betting he gets better treatment than the rest of us have experienced…Boy-oh-Girl I have my CW stories, even though, so sad it could be so much better of a company.
I am with so many others, I will never -ever step inside a CW again.
When I was a kid I put my fingers on the burners of a stove. I can still see the damage even though it’s just in my mind now.
Thank you, Gail! I guess Camping World has purchased a new spokesman rather than opting for bettter training of their service techs or a better pre-delivery inspection. 🙁 I was never a fan of his when he ran NASCAR and this does not rehabilitate Camping World’s reputation.🤔
As a pretty big fan of NASCAR, Dale Jr. strikes me as a pretty cool, down to earth guy. I hope he makes some nice memories with his family, even if he is getting a deal from Camping World.
Not sure why this article is considered “news-worthy”; another millionaire buying yet another toy.
If I am not mistaken, Camping World (Lemonis) is a big sponsor of NASCAR – so it would be a natural deal maker for any driver who wishes to avail him/her self of their products. I am not fan of Camping World since they bought one of our large dealerships, and also a few purchases years ago I made thru the mail or internet. Poor service and no follow up! Mr. Earnhardt might also have his car sponsored by CW as well ?
I’ll bet if he has any issues with the new unit they will be fixed right away. Or maybe they were fixed even before delivery.
My thoughts exactly, Stephen.🙄 Preferential treatment. Have a good afternoon/evening. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
I hope Dale gets a better Keystone Cougar than I got from Camping World. Mine is a piece of junk. Nothing but manufacturing defects. After 8 months I was told I need a new roof, and Keystone is balking at covering the roof under warranty. NEVER buy a Keystone product.
Surprised that he didn’t buy a Montana.
