A firefighter was hospitalized after he sustained an electrical shock while responding to an RV fire. On Monday afternoon, Nov. 25, the responder was part of a crew handling a call-out in Pinehurst, Texas.

The call came from a passerby who reported an RV and pickup on fire about 3:15 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found a nearby home was endangered and began their work.

One of them said a water stream from his hose hit overhead powerlines. Voltage traveled back down the water stream, up his arm, and hit him in the face. He was transported to an area hospital, and later released. Local media reports he is “doing well.”

The RV and  truck were totaled. A nearby outbuilding suffered heavy damage.

It’s a good thing water isn’t that good of a conductor or his goose would have been cooked.
Didn’t they teach you not to spray water on electricity? It had to have been pretty high voltage, up in the 30,000 volt range. Thankfully he wasn’t killed or seriously injured.

Thank you, Russ and Tina. The poor fire fighter. I do hope he recovered quickly and fully. Happy new year and safe travels!
