Forest River issues recall: RV stoves can detach from cabinets

While it’s possible you might “fall” for the stove in an RV, NEVER should the stove fall for—or on—you. But that’s what’s behind a Forest River recall. Nearly 300 travel trailers are being recalled for a bad stove attachment issue. Call it the case of the falling stove.

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2025 Vibe and Cedar Creek travel trailer vehicles. The stove may detach from the cabinet. A stove that detaches during use increases the risk of injury. Potentially 288 units are affected by this recall.

Falling stove remedy

The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 11, 2024. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-367-3314 for Vibe owners, or 260-593-4000 for Cedar Creek owners. Forest River’s number for this recall is 59-1860.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to nhtsa.gov.

Background

The “my bad” award on this falling stove recall lies firmly with the stove supplier, Collins and Company. On October 15, Forest River staff pointed out a concern about the stove mounting system. Evidently, the stove mounting design coming to Forest River was incorrect. Until a remedy can be arrived at, Forest River crews are adding three additional screws to the stove mounting unit on new rigs heading off the factory line.

Thank you, Russ and Tina! Well, at least Forest River eventually discovered the problem. Hopefully they soon devise a “fix” for the units recalled. Have a great week and safe travels!
