Forest River rigs recalled for inverted cooktop flame

A manufacturing goof has caused Forest River to recall up to 148 RVs. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2024 Coachmen Catalina BCAT154RDX and Forest River Aurora BART15RDX travel trailers. The panel that isolates the cooktop from the furnace was not properly sealed during manufacturing, which could result in an inverted cooktop flame. An inverted cooktop flame increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy for potential inverted cooktop flame

Dealers will seal the furnace from the cooktop, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 29, 2024. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-825-4995. Forest River’s number for this recall is 203-1766.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

Additional background information

On April 15, 2024, Forest River’s Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) was notified by the manufacturing plant that it had received a dealer complaint of the cooktop flame being inverted when the furnace was in use. OCC opened a research item into the concern. On April 19, 2024, the Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall.
