Grand Canyon National Park is seeking the public’s input on a proposed increase in campground fees for tenters and RVers. The increase would begin next April 1.
The park collects campground fees from visitors for overnight stays, but the new fees would rise dramatically. Park officials are seeking public comment on the proposed fees for standard tent and RV sites at Mather, Desert View and North Rim campgrounds. The current camping fees have not changed for the last 20 years.
Under the authority of the Federal Lands and Recreation Enhancement Act, the National Park retains 80% of the recreation fees it collects. These fees are used in projects to improve the visitor experience, services, facilities and safety.
In 2023 Grand Canyon welcomed 159,019 campers with tents and 84,332 with RVs. Currently, standard tent/RV users are charged $18 per night to stay at Mather, Desert View and North Rim Campgrounds. A 50% discount is offered to Senior and Access pass holders.
The proposed prices for standard tent and RV sites is $30 per night and $15 with the Senior and Access pass discounts. Rates for equestrian, group and walk-up sites will remain unchanged for the 2025 season.
Interested parties can provide feedback on the proposal online through December 15, 2024. Written comments should be submitted to the address below, again by December 15:

Hasn’t raised prices in 20 years?! I’m ok with the prices identified.
Raise the prices. Camping at Federal Campgrounds are a bargain.
