According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, more than 100 million people in the U.S. experience various types of allergies each year and they’re the sixth leading cause of chronic illness in the U.S.! Yikes!
Do you suffer from seasonal allergies? If so, are they pretty bad allergies or just mild? Do your eyes sometimes itch and you sneeze here and there but you’re not sure if it’s allergies or not?
After you vote, please leave a comment and share with us how you take care of your seasonal allergies. If you have a trick that works, others will surely want to know. Thank you!
Oh, and be sure to read Gail Marsh’s recent story: How to manage allergies while RVing.

Good days & bad days from April to October.
Yep I know the feeling it’s awful.
Pretty much year round..Goes from fresh cut grass to Mountain Cedar… I take an allergy pill every morning because I’m also allergic to dust …lol.
Mowing the lawn does me in for three days, reason I only cut the grass every 4-5 weeks. Had my way, I would blacktop it and paint it green.
I voted mildly but as I’ve got older it seems there less or it’s all the medication I’m taking that has lessened over time. I feel for those that do. Had 5 sinus surgeries when in my 40s do to sinus infections.
Let the pollen season begin. Chemicals to the rescue. Now to remove the yellow from the RV.
😅 I just noticed that my red ’97 T-Bird is turning kinda orange these days. Time for a car wash. Have a great day, Tom. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
No but my wife certainly does!!
I have chronic sinus infection. I’m allergic to weeds, pollen, dust, grass, mold, and trees. From mid march until first frost I have to take an allergy pill. I was test for allergies January 12th of this year. I live in wisconsin
I’m definitely allergic to Weeds and cigarettes, cigars and again Weed but I like that obsession cologne ☺️
One other thing. I recommend people see an allergist. They will do a skin test on your back. Whatever you’re allergic to you back will turn red and puff right up. I have been fighting allergies all my life. My only relief to allergies was in the winter time.
Seems in the past 10 or so years, the allergy season is becoming a year round problem. There is no more spring, summer and fall. And for us, forget winter. We had maybe two weeks of night time temps below 20º and very little snow. We had flowers and trees blooming in early March.
Another problem for me is how a lot of people need to drown themselves in colognes, perfumes and body washes.
Well I’m not allergic to anything that smells good but different folks have different strokes.
“Another problem for me is how a lot of people need to drown themselves in with colognes, perfumes and body washes.” you sure hit the nail on the head there…just go into boxmart when it’s full of people.
I have suffered from seasonal allergies for my entire life. With the advent of the modern allergy meds that do not cross the blood-brain barrier, I am able to take generic Claritin once a day along with fluticasone nasal spray during the spring season and it pretty much takes care of it for me. Itchy eyes are quickly relieved with olopatadine eye drops.
Sorry, Michael. Our sometimes-overzealous spam filter put your comment into the Spam folder, for no apparent reason.🙄 Everyone’s very first comment gets held for moderation (so we can make sure they’re not from a bot), but get posted automatically after that. So you should be good to go regarding any other comments, i.e., they shouldn’t be held for approval or, hopefully, end up for no reason in the Spam folder. Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
Hi Diane: I believe the spam filter scanned his email and noted the brand names he mentioned. That is oft times treated as an advertisement to the mighty brain box! I think!
That could be, D & J. Unless something is specifically included on our list of words to filter, it usually doesn’t block them, however. Sometimes the gremlins in our system just get cranky, I guess. Have a great day. 🤗 –Diane
You should see the allergy paragraph on my med sheet!! I keep a list of current meds, supplements and vitamins in my computer and a copy goes with me to every doctor appointment. I’m allergic to molds, mildew, dust, pollen, cats(I have 4), insecticides, mango, chocolate, dairy -until it’s been processed beyond pasteurization- chicken eggs, (can’t even eat mayonnaise), and a host of medications. I invite everyone to keep such a med list and take it to dr appts. Believe me, they’ll be grateful!
I learned about histamine when I realized how many ‘anti’ histamines I was using. Then I checked my gnome report. I have a genetic mutation that does not allow me to to process DAO, the histamine controlling enzyme. Supplementing with DAO made a huge difference!! (Most doctors are clueless about genes).
Yep I have the sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose that’s why I keep my bennies plus they put me right to 💤.
I don’t normally have allergies, but it seems when we are in Texas for the winter I have itchy runny eyes and sneezing. Not horrible just a little bit everyday. Once we are back home in the Midwest I don’t seem to have these symptoms. I guess that’s the price I pay for spending a warm winter.
It’s called “cedar fever” although the pollen is from a species of juniper. Ask any Texan and they will know about it, even if they are very fortunate and have no reaction.
I have only one complaint about being a snowbird (actually we are called ‘winter Texans’ at this end of the migration). That complaint is that I go through all my spring ailments, start feeling better, pack up, head north and do it all again.
I answered no because I never had them, but I have been doing a lot of sneezing this spring. ???
I have histamine issues year round. For me, ‘season’ is any and all. Generally avoidance, zyrtex, and histamine treatment go a long way to controlling them.
I jokingly say I’m allergic to life! I use non-scented deodorant, detergents, and anything else I can get fragrance free. I have both spring and fall allergies as well. I take allergy medicine year round, switching brands every three months because they stop working.
A childhood friend was allergic to wasp/bees. Eyes swelled shut. When together went straight to him and stung him, not me. After a year or so and being stung by several bees at one time on several occasions, he was no longer allergic to them. For me I was allergic to grasses, even issues with gas, perfume odors. In college class a sinus culture revealed a particularly virulent hemophilis. after being treated for a tooth infection with several drugs at once It went away. I gave it a name. Chronically Acute Iatrogenic Sinusitis. P.S. Antibiotice resistance is due to 90% bacteria using TMG to kick out antibiotics from cell -not over usage. Gas/perfumes no longer allergic as much.
My allergies are really bad for 2 months each year: April and May from tree pollen. I take a 24 hr pill every 12 hours, use a nasal spray once a day, use allergy eye drops and carry an inhaler for allergy induced asthma. If I’m lucky, I don’t get a sinus infection or scratch the corneas of my eyes from itching. I will be getting shots starting this fall.
Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 Two years ago my answer would have been “Yes, badly,” but no longer. Now only mildly thanks to periodic allergy shots. I was getting sinusitis at least a couple times annually, so my GP sent me to an allergist. I got tested and got 50 shots (in 5 weeks) tailored to my particular allergens to begin my treatment. Subsequently I got a shot every two weeks for several months, and now one every three weeks. (FYI, each shot is actually two, one into each arm.) Now I use a daily antihistamine and occasionally use a nasal spray for mild congestion and have relatively few problems with seasonal allergies. Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂
My allergies started in Tokyo in the late 60s. Testing found nothing. Self-diagnosis = hydrocarbons and my doctor agreed. In heavy traffic I have a problem and when I walk by a diesel engine running, within seconds my head clogs up. So, all you people with diesels have pity and turn your engine off.
I wouldn’t call it ‘suffering’, but yeah I’m stuffy in the spring and late summer
I didn’t have pollen type allergies until late in my 50s. Just spent a few days in the Mojave desert riding dirt bikes and my allergies went into hyperdrive. Luckily my DIL had some OTC meds that calmed it down. Sneezed my head off for hours though
I’ve been thru the testing phase, the shot phase, the nasal reconstructive surgery, & prescription/otc phase. Everything works for a little while. I thought being in the desert would relieve alot of the symptoms. Naw. The worst one I deal with now is the super dry itchy eyes. Love the blowing desert dust! I carry a plethora of meds to deal with the different symptoms.
