Are you a cake or pie person?

Can you tell we were hungry when we wrote this poll question? Mmmm! If you had to choose between cake or pie, which would you choose to eat?

If you were at a birthday party, say, and they had a pie and a cake, which one would you ask for a slice of? Or would you ask for a slice of both? Or perhaps you don’t have a sweet tooth and you’d just rather go back for dinner seconds.

We’d probably take a slice of both. Life is short, right? OK, now we’ve got to stop thinking about desserts and get back to work (yeah, right, as if we ever stop thinking about desserts!). Please tell us your preference by voting in the poll below. Thanks!

The real question is “how many scoops of ice cream would you like with that?”

Dan

I think in this regard I am bipolar, so my question is “which do you want first, cake or pie”? And my answer would be “yes”.

Angel Food and Dutch Apple

I like both. I make a mean homemade cherry nut cake from scratch and homemade peach cobbler! Both need a generous scoop or two of ice cream with a cup of coffee on the side!
Mmm mmmm good!

I like both. Give me hot Dutch Apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or give me chocolate cake with buttercream icing. 😋

Very seldom I find a cake that is not dry. Give me a pie anytime! My DW makes wonderful pies.

Connie VH

Yes, yes. I would accept either, or both!😆

However, I’m a brownies gal. Chewy, condensed, intensely chocolate cake. Yeah, that’s the ticket!

creme brulee, custard or bananas foster for me. otherwise give me some cobbler.

Chunk of chocolate/chocolate cake with a glass of cold milk and a slice of strawberry-rubbard pie and an ice coffee. Truth be known I will enjoy any pie including mincemeat pie and any cake.

I’m a Boston Cream Pie person which is a Cake more than a Pie so I chose both.

Cheesecake. Its why you carry a knife!

I said “both,” but my decision really depends on the pie filling and the type of cake. Also, I don’t care much for pastry, so my ideal pie only has a pastry bottom.

We discovered peanut butter pie while down in Houston. A friend said we had to try it! We did, and now I’m a huge fan. My wife picked out a recipe (out of hundreds that showed up in a web search!) and made it in our trailer. Fabulous. Of course, I’m one who believes that peanut butter improves whatever it is slathered on.

I agree, Tommy! And my dad used to eat PB straight out of the jar “to get a little extra protein” in his diet. 😀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day! —Diane at RVtravel.com

I like both but eat a lot more pies. I won the Michigan Apple Growers “Best Apple Pie in the State of Michigan” pie baking contest in 2008. It was the first time I had entered any food preparation contest. I used my father’s recipe, which he frequently made for family gatherings, & passed on to me when he could no longer make it.
Here’s the link to the recipe

Way cool! Thanks, Fred. I’ve printed up the recipe (thank you for sharing it!) and am going to try it sometime. Take care, and Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 😀 —Diane at RVtravel.com

I’m not a big sweet eater so I seldom have either. Now, put something salty in front of me and look out. Remember that Lays Potato Chip ad “Bet you can’t eat just one”? That was written with me in mind!!

Being a diabetic, I would settle for a meat pie! I sure loved those “Hubigs” fried and frosted lemon pies they used to make in New Orleans!

As a diabetic, I wanted to say neither, but hey, I know me best. “Just give me a piece of pie and nobody gets hurt”

You can still eat awesome desserts using Swerve, allulose, monk fruit or other sweeteners that do not spike blood sugar. I made a peach cobbler that was better than my mom’s regular sugar laden one. 🤫 I didn’t tell her that though. Look up Keto desserts.

If it was Lemon meringue then pie would be the choice. A slice of pie and cake would never be turned down.

It depends on which one has the most chocolate.

Carrot Cake, German Chocolate, Cake, Coconut Cake/Creme Pie, Key Lime Pie, Pecan Pie, most any fruit cobbler….

My answer is dependent upon what is offered. I love carrot cake but my favourite dessert is Pecan Pie followed closely by “real” coconut cream pie. That means coconut cooked in the filling not just sprinkled on top.

Both. DW doesn’t make pies. She hates to work the crust, but she makes a great crisp (apple, berry or what ever fruit is on hand). Life is good!

Was all for pie until I discovered wife-baked cobblers. Never go back: apple-rhubard cobbler… yummy!
