OK, OK, we admit, we’re writing this when we’re hungry. It’s a few minutes before dinner and we would like both candy and cheese right now… please!
When you snack, do you tend to go for sweeter snacks like candy, chocolate, or dried fruit or do you tend to stick to savory or salty snacks like nuts, chips or cheese? Heck, maybe you snack on both! Cheese and chocolate really do go together…
If you don’t like or wouldn’t choose to eat candy or cheese, please leave a comment with your snack of choice below the poll. Make us even hungrier, why don’t ya!

I can’t answer this as it depends on my mood. I like them both and you forgot Nuts and Chips to choose from.
Cheese…..and nuts. This actually serves as a meal for us on travel days.
Chips, pretzels, anything salty and crunchy!
Nuts please.
Too many variables to answer effectively. What kind of candy? What kind of cheese? If I pay a little extra, can I have both? With some nuts, chips, and fruit?
Neither. Candy is sugar (the #2 poison for your body) and cheese is dairy (animal protein)
When you eat a whole food plant based diet you realize that what you used to eat for snacks are completely unhealthy and incompatible with a disease free longevity lifestyle.
Dave, please don’t be offended if I don’t invite you to my BBQ. Animal products IN MODERATION are the best for humans, as some proteins, vitamins and essential elements are not found in plants.
But you do you.
Dave, is correct. Cheese is concentrated cows milk that nature intended for a growing calf, not humans. Cheese also contains Casomorphin which is more potent opioid than morphine and explains why people claim to love it.
Also, the protein in cheese came from plants anyway. The cow is just a middle-man.
So, if I want something sweet and satisfying I’ll have a flax seed muffin with honey drizzled over it. Attending a BBQ means I bring my own bean burgers to enjoy with friends.
After 18 months with a WFPB lifestyle (not a diet) I’m off all my BP meds and have dropped 40#. Things just work better when fueled properly.
Plant based diets all involve either tree nuts (I am allergic to) or legumes (also allergic to all legumes, the worst being soy). So, I would not survive on a plant based diet. And yes, it is very difficult for me to come up with a balanced meal. I have to have meat to get my protein.
I’m a Wisconsin girl so cheese is my blood! My fridge always has several types to choose from for a snack with an apple. But that’s to respond to ‘snack’. If you asked about ‘treat’, the answer would always be candy – specifically dark chocolate. Nothing made me happier than when it was published that dark chocolate is good for you. A single piece of dark chocolate every day is truly a treat to savor.
Squeaky cheese curds?
Oh yes! Ones that have never been cold.
apple, grapes, banana, or peanuts (sometimes with raisins or dark chocolate chips).
Cheese! Candy is a short term sugar fix of empty calories. Cheese is protein and healthy fats that will satisfy your hungers for much longer. But best is nothing in excess.
Depends on the type of cheese. Processed cheese is out, you have no idea what all is actually in it, oils and fillers. A good natural cheese is our choice. On the flip side, a good dark chocolate is again the choice here. It’s high in anti-oxidants and low in sugar content.
I tell my DW that she is part rat! This woman who I love dearly thrives on cheese. No matter the color or type she loves cheese. I cringe on the rare occasion that we go to a burger joint. 65 cents for a slice of cheese?? Can you say RIP off? But after all she does for me that 65 cents is a small price to pay.
For me, I like fruit or nuts but will eat a mint if you twist my arm
Either, whichever is available
Let’s see, candy and cheese both go with wine, so the answer is “yes, please”
My choice really depends on the time of day. I like candy after a meal, but before dinner or late at night cheese – nice sharp cheddar – is great.
Cheetos!
Well, sometimes. I like crunchy snacks like nuts, or nut mixes. Corn chips and salsa. Guacamole and chips too. Variety is important to me so I like to vary my snacks.
Had to choose candy as I am allergic (not lactose intolerant) to cheese.
Everyone knows this is a unfair question because good quality dark chocolate candy and cheese with some fresh strawberries are a great snack.
I didn’t know I wanted some cheese ’til you mentioned it. 🧀
Most will answer cheese because you ‘should’ eat that instead of candy. But in reality, I’m guessing most would choose a piece of high quality chocolate if no one was looking.
Just sayin’.
Well, in my case you are wrong. Just sayin’
Hahaha. Fair enough.
I’m not much of an “or” girl, I prefer “and” …. in general …. so, for me, its both.
Depends on the candy. If it’s Fanny May or See’s, I’ll probably take that over cheese. But I think cheese would probably win out most of the time.
Cheese …attached to pizza
Not a cheese eater unless it’s pizza or Mexican food. Never cheese for a snack, but not always candy either.
Crunchy, salty stuff, for me. Hard to resist.😒
Vegetables and cheese!
Ate enough candy as a kid for several lifetimes.
I also enjoy a pear or an apple, and some Triscuits with my cheese. My husband prefers candy or cookies.
It totally depends upon what candy or what cheese. Makes a HUGE difference. Because of this, I didn’t answer either way.
That is exactly what I thought.
chocolate….Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Sorry for the delay in posting this, Rich. I just noticed it sitting in the Spam folder – put in there by our sometimes overzealous filter. 😆 Have a good night. —Diane
For me the decision will be based on what kind of candy vs. what kind of cheese. But since candy will more often win out for me, I voted for candy….
I snack on whatever is most easily gotten. I rarely will work hard for food. So long as it is edible, then that’s enough. It’s only calories after all.
As I’m reading this edition, I’m eating a candy bar. lol
It honestly depends what mood I’m in. One day I might want cheese, and the next day, candy.
