Which do you most enjoy, giving gifts or receiving gifts?

Some people LOVE to receive gifts. There’s nothing more special to them than someone they care about thinking of them with a gift. Is that you? Perhaps you’re the kind of person who likes to be on the gifting end… especially when the person you’re gifting the gift to loves receiving gifts (boy, how many times can we say the word gift??).

Which do you enjoy most: giving or receiving gifts?

After you vote, will you tell us about your favorite gift you ever gifted or received? Unless it’s private, of course… Thanks!

Love to surprise friends with unexpected gifts. I also collect birthdays and send them cards. The cards are always unexpected and welcomed.

I hate giving gifts, not because I don’t enjoy the actual activity but because I hate trying to choose something. Who knows what people want? Not me.

Exactly! I hate shopping…period. So that’s why I voted receiving gifts.

Now that I am under Medicare I find that I much more enjoy giving gifts than getting them. I enjoyed giving gifts when I was younger (and had the money to purchase them), but probably not to the degree that I enjoy it now.

28 years ago, we had my husband’s wedding ring custom made with inlaid lapis (a blue jade-like rock). He wore it doing everything including engine repair & working with solvents. The lapis fell out & the ring sat in his drawer for years. For Christmas 2020, I secretly dug it out & had a local rock shop restore the lapis and polish the gold. Gorgeous! He was so surprised! My favorite gift-giving experience so far!

I used to agonize over getting gifts for people (I was never good at discerning what they wanted or needed). Now that I’m older I send birthday cards (or wishes) to family members and cousins. Gifts to our Daughter and SIL are usually gift cards to their favorite restaurants or big box stores.

The only gift I care about is a hug or phone call from my daughter. The only gift I really remember is a Christmas morning with an electric train under the tree. Getting underwear as a kid was disappointing – now it is more of a joy.

I’m with you, a call or visit from my son and daughter is the only gift I need!

Sounds like me. I don’t like to receive gifts from anyone, period. I’m happiest with a phone call from each of my sons. And I learned a long time ago that I don’t need to spend time trying to buy them gifts which they may not like. Money covers it nicely. Well, that and a ton of my super-duper, heavy-duty, artery-clogging Chex Mix that I make for them every Christmas. They’ve even mentioned I could forget the money, just give them Chex Mix. 😆 Take care, Kelly and Mike. –Diane

I hate to shop so i give money. It is easy to do and seems to satisfy.

I don’t like buying gifts because I hate shopping and never have a clue what the recipient would like.

As far as receiving gifts, I would much rather have a conversation than a gift. If I need or want something I would rather purchase it myself at the time I need or want it.

I am absolutely lousy at giving gifts. Luckily, there are subscription services for cookies, meat and fruit to save my keester.
