During the pandemic, we bet a lot of you or your partners learned how to cut hair. It was hard not being able to go to a hair salon, wasn’t it? Perhaps some of your hairdos really suffered…
Now who cuts your hair most often? Do you cut it yourself? Does your spouse or another family member do it? Do you go to a friend? A professional hair salon or barber? Or, well, maybe you don’t have any hair to cut…
As always, thanks for voting.

All of these at various times.
My wife has for all of our 55 years of marriage, but it’s maybe different as she was a trained hairstylist
I haven’t been in a barber shop in nearly 50 years. I married my barber.
I had a pony tail for 12 years, donated it and started another. So no one has cut my hair in over 16 years.
The wife cuts my hair. It’s only hair. I can’t see $25 for a hair cut. A little pricey for 10-15 minutes of work.
Neighborhood barber shop.
Good question todays poll. I go to a barber, and like everything the price has gone up however my haircut lasts about two months and always interesting talk at the barber. Anyone remember Floyd the barber in Mayberry?
My wife cuts mine. She goes to a hairdresser.
I despise hair. I have so much of it and it is baby fine hair. Doesn’t hold a curl, a perm or anything. When I had cancer my hair fell out in clumps, not all of it, just clumps so I shaved my head. I have been doing it ever since (I did grow it out for 1 1/2 years before I married). So for the majority of the last 40 years, I have had a shaved head.
A barber. In a barber shop. For $12.00. Plus a $3.00 tip.
In 1968 I tried a TrimComb and butchered my hair on one side down to the scalp. My wife did as good a job as possible to repair the damage, so I could face my classes. She’s been my barber ever since then; 55 years!
My wife USED to cut my hair. There’s not much of it – ha. It was always a buzz cut because shaving my head would be too much daily work. Then I decided to let what hair I have, grow a bit. I discovered a cool barber here in town and enjoy stopping in every three or so months for great conversation – and a good cut. After 35 years of free cuts, the $18 bill was a bit of a shock. 🙂
I used to always go to barber. The shop had three barbers. The owner retired and closed the shop. The other two were not interested in taking it over.
I now go to one of the ‘chain’ places. Not quite as good as a regular barber, but the job gets done. What used to be a a 30 minute cut is now about 10 minutes.
Seems true barber shops are now closing their doors due to the competition of these ‘chain’ shops.
I just wish that I could find an old fashion barber that did the back of the neck with hot shave cream and a straight razor. That always felt so good! Now they just want to scrape up the back of your neck with a electric trimmer.
When I started full time, I have up the every 6 week cut. Now I let it grow n tie or clip it up. Saves me $30-$50 each time. I do get different color stripes put in when I go bk home, by my previous hairdresser.
Since the start of COVID, my wife has cut my hair. Surprisingly, even the first time, she’d done a better job.
Q. What is the difference between a bad haircut and a good haircut ?
A. About two weeks.
I use a Flow Bee since the pandemic. Check it out on you tube video. I haven’t been to a barber since. It’s also for women !
Big fan of the traditional Barbershop. My fondness for a tight shave and some scalp tonic from a pro once a month is my monthly jam, and is time I spend, gladly.
My barber, Daryl had his own shop for 47 years and now cuts hair part time. He has the coolest shop in his home, filled with memorabilia of music and cars from 60s and 70s. Plus he is an RVer. Always a pleasant time. Been cutting my hair for 7 years and the price is still $15 + tip. Good haircut, good time and good price.
My wife cuts my hair. She just happens to be a professional barber/stylist.
We’ve been married over 50 years and I can count on one hand the number of times my wife didn’t cut my hair. She has fun doing it.
My husband cuts my hair for me every couple months, just about an inch off my elbow length hair. He braids it for me as well. I cut his hair about once a month. It is so convenient and I never have to worry about getting a bad haircut, unlike the many that I had received by so called “licensed professionals”, who would not do as I asked, but just what they wanted.
plus the price is right, and we enjoy the bonding experience.
Who cuts their hair? I always wanted to be a hippie so when my local barber raised my haircut price by 67%, I decided to let it grow. It is now well below my shoulders. I do stop by my former barber about once a month to see if they have adjusted their price and also so they know of my protest of the extreme price increase.
I trim my own bangs when needed and have a stylist give me a full trim every 6-9 months.
Barber, in a local barbershop, every few months or so.
I use a flowbee – works great, I can do it any time and it’s quick!
A Flowbee! Ha!
I have cut my own hair for about 40 years. DW sometimes tidies the back, but I do the bulk of it ahead of her tweaks. I have used a professional barber once or twice since 1983 or 1984.
Who has time in all their busy days to go get a haircut? When I left my ex I had to find a real stylist to replace his catastophic hair cuts, but couldn’t afford it. I found beauty academy within walking distance that the students only charged $1. When I graduated & went to work my mother insisted I use her stylist, straight from the 1950s. When I remarried and moved, I was too busy between work, home and volunteerism to go to a stylist until I found Locks of Love. One of my Scout moms was a stylist, and she did my annual haircut before Summer Camp. For the last 8 years I’ve cut it myself. The price is right.
