Do you ever use your RV as a “guest room” for visitors to your home?

If you don’t have a guest room in your home, using your RV can be a great place to host your guests. Heck, even if you do have a guest room, your RV may be the place your guests prefer! From experience we know that sometimes this leaves your visitor with the thought, “Hey, maybe I should get one of these.”

After all, it’s private, it has its own kitchen and seating area, most likely a TV, a bathroom (if you allow them to use it)… what’s not to love? Plus, if your guests don’t own their own RV, staying in one will be very fun for them!

If you have kids or grandkids, we bet you already know how much little ones love playing, or even sleeping, in the RV.

Read this article from Gail Marsh about making your RV cozy for guests, in this case around the holidays.

No, but not a bad idea!!

No, but I have slept in the RV when there’s an over abundance of company and a shortage of beds.

Not yet. But, that is the plan. Beautiful State RV park just down the road.

Why have a fourth choice “I don’t own an RV now”? If you don’t have one, then this poll is moot! You certainly could not have a guest room.

Never did, but would consider if ever needed.

No,No and No. Just something then will have to be cleaned and disconnect electric. Plenty of room in the sticks n bricks now all the kids are grown up and gone on their own.

No, I don’t currently own a home; should be a choice. We are full timers.

Yes, although it’s not our motor home. We have an old Avion trailer that is stationary and our permanent guest home. Everyone thinks it’s “so cute “. We call it our silver twinkie.

No. We had a guest room when we had a sticks-and-bricks. But relatives rarely came to visit. Now our RV is a guest room when we visit them.

Just used it 2 nights ago for 2 grandchildren and spouses. My DIL calls it “the annex”. My sticks and brix was full to bursting–2 guest rooms, 2 air matresses and a cot in the sewing/studio (aka wall-out basement), 2 cots in the garage and the 2 couples in the MH. 15 of us, and a wonderful time.

Generally speaking WE move into the TT and give guests our bedroom. As stated, it is easier than training somebody on why something that looks like a residential device is different to operate correctly.
We have no existing ordinances about temporary use of the TT at our home, but some municipalities do. Be sure to check this out. And even if allowed, unless the unit is in a backyard, it may be wise to touch base with local law enforcement. There may otherwise be a knock on the door during the night. …I’d rather this than find a RV trashed or missing the next day!

Same here! Doesn’t happen often but has been easier to stay in the rv myself and give over my bedroom in the house to guests.

I didn’t know how to answer this, because when we have guests in the “sticks” house, so WE stay in the RV! My husband doesn’t trust anyone to stay in the RV as he is afraid they won’t know how to use the toilet properly (we don’t flush paper)! 😉

Should have been a “yes when needed” option, don’t use it for guests a lot but it’s always ready. Teenagers enjoy a space of their own and will call dibs on it, so it does get used.

Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 We planned to do this once, but it never happened. So, I voted “No.” Thanks again, have a great week, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

No because, unfortunately, city bylaw prohibits parking RV anywhere on property, but if we could, I most certainly would let guests use it.

We had a big family wedding and we offered our 5th wheel to a sister-in-law, her husband, and their adult daughter. Never again. Some people just don’t know how to be appreciative.

Isn’t that a hard truth. 🇺🇸✌️

We had relatives come from out of town; people who I trust and know camping. A hotel would be $200 a night. A great local park with full hookups is $50 a night. I drove it out there and hooked it up (class C). They loved the freedom, the adventure and the savings.

We have always extended an open invitation to family and friends to stay in our RV when in the area. Over the years we’ve been taken up on our offer only a handful of times. Always enjoyable visits, and appreciative guests. I wish it happened more often, but people are busy.

We stay in the RV and let our guest have the house. Gives us our alone time and we don’t need to rush them off to bed when we are ready. Also don’t have to train them on using the bathroom and things.

My RV is my second home. I’ll offer up the jack knife sofa but the bed is off limits. My bed is like my toothbrush or my underwear — I don’t share with anyone.

I don’t see any place to vote. Sorry.
But we do use it for visitors sometimes.

Sorry, Ron. Sometimes script blockers and ad blockers interfere with our polls since they are from a 3rd party site. If you have one of these, try and turn it off and see if that fixes the issue. I hope that works.🤞 Have a good evening/night. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com

I live full time in my RV now but, a number of years ago, when I lived in a house and had a Toyota Dolphin, I let some kids and their sponsors use the Dolphin to take an out-of-town trip. Never again! They did some damage and, of course, didn’t apologize or offer to pay for the repairs.
