Tesla Cybertruck tows futuristic Pebble Flow trailer

By Cheri Sicard
Are you ready for RVing George Jetson style? In the video below, Chris of Everyday Chris tries towing for the first time with a Tesla Cybertruck. But he doesn’t tow just any RV, he tows a prototype of the all-electric Pebble Flow trailer (we profiled this unique futuristic RV here).

This rig of the future will turn heads, for sure.

A large part of the video is spent discussing the trailer, which is unlike anything you have ever seen. Created by ex-Tesla and Apple employees, the Pebble Flow trailer parks itself, hitches itself up, and even helps power itself down the road.

You will be amazed to see the trailer shimmy up to the truck and lower itself on the hitch ball. Hitching up this trailer is not unlike playing a video game. That’s right. To hitch up, the truck didn’t move, the trailer did!

Chris also demonstrates getting the tow hitch on the Cybertruck.

Automatic tow mode

The truck is set up for towing and automatically goes into tow mode the second it senses a trailer is hitched up.

We then get to go for a ride in the Cybertruck while towing. According to Chris, it does not feel like he is towing anything at all. You will see in the video the great visibility on all sides.

After that, it is time to unhitch. Of course, the trailer does a lot of the work here, too. The “instacamp” setting automatically brings down steps and leveling jacks and sets up camp. In the rest of the video, Chris gives us a tour of this amazing trailer.

While this was interesting, I would like to see another video showing how well the Cybertruck does with an ordinary trailer. I am guessing the results would be quite different from this, as the Pebble Flow trailer helps propel itself down the road.

What do you think of this futuristic RV rig?

I get that he’s excited but explaining details with his over the top “WOW” simply makes the video hard to follow.

How far can you go on a “tank of gas” with this set up? That would be THE important consideration.

It would be nice to know how far the cybertruck can tow a travel trailer before needing charging.

Such a rig is fine for early adopters. Not all early adopters, as there are those who leap before they look. I refer to those with the financial means and patience to address or accept the limitations that come with early adoption. To each his own. I choose practicality.

Too much stuff to go wrong, and I’m still no fan of battery powered ‘anything’.

Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 While driving home from our last trip, we were passed by a Tesla truck. I refused to give them any satisfaction by gawking, besides driving the RV has all my attention almost all the time. It certainly looked futuristic. I have some qualms about vehicles and RVs being as full of technogy as these two. It seems they are prime targets for hackers. Thanks again! 🙂 The video was slick, but I do not think that I will be sending then $500. Meanwhile, have a great week, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂

How much mileage is lost when towing, even my small trailer I loose 50% of mpg. How inconvenient will it be to recharge, I haven’t seen a charge station where you could get to the chargers with a trailer hitched up. On the interstate system I haven’t seen a charge station that wasn’t full with many vehicles waiting. I don’t think we’re ready yet for long electric trucking.
