Pet owners: If given the chance, would you clone your pet?

Pet owners, this one is for you. We know you all love your pets. Your dog, your cat, is the best dog or cat in the whole wide world! We know that.

What would be better than your dog or cat living forever? Not possible, you say? Okay, what if the next best thing is possible—what if you could clone your pet so you could have the same pet over, and over, and over… and over again?

Would you do it? Why or why not? After you vote, please leave a comment and explain your answer. This is one we’re really curious to hear about.

P.S. Apparently you can already clone your pet. Wow! Here’s the website.

I’m 83 and my girl is a 12-year-old 80-pounder – definitely past the age for any cloning.

With 5 cats that would be great each one has a special place in our hearts.

Never. One was created by God and nature. Making a copy is wrong.

If I knew I would have the same behaviors and personality, maybe one of our past dogs. But as I suspect every animal is unique regardless how they are created, probably not.

A cloned pet may look like your animal but the same personality won’t happen and if expected it may disappoint. Animals as well as people develop a personality because of the environment they are living. You would have to recreate the previous pets entire upbringing which would be next to impossible especially if your pet, like all of mine, is a rescue. Every animal is unique and cloned animals will each be different so save your money and save a pet from a shelter.

Good God no! While we love our golden doodle to death, we would never ever want another one. Talk about a high maintenance dog, Daisy is it. We are always outdoors near the water, and can’t keep her away. She is constantly rolling around in any kind of crap she can find, including the neighbor’s chicken and goat and pig shit. Always needing grooming. We’ve never owned a dog that needs grooming, but we have one now. It lasts about a half a day, and she looks like a range maggot once again. And then gives us that “What?” look. I guess we’re stuck…

Ahhhh! That What? look. Love it! I know that all too well. The LOOK with a giggle and a smile and you love them all over again.

We have too many pets as it is. I don’t want to clone my pet and create more pets when I can adopt a new pet, and take one off the streets

Absolutely not. I wouldn’t clone any of my children so why my pets. All have or had different personalities which makes each special in their own way.
