Is it 5 o’clock somewhere? It must be! And if so, cheers to that! Also, we require you to listen to this song while you read this and vote in today’s poll. Deal?
At “cheers” hour, what are you drinking? Beer? Wine? Liquor? Something else, maybe like cider or a hard seltzer? Or perhaps you don’t drink at all (and that’s okay too!).
Tell us in the poll below what alcoholic beverage you favor over others. And if you like beer, wine, hard liquor, cider, etc., all the same, well, there’s an option for that too.
Cheers!
Oh, and don’t forget to take more of our reader polls. They’re fun!

I said other because while I only occasionally have alcohol my choice is a hard cider
Is one vice I don’t be have. I don’t begrudge anyone partaking if one can contain themselves. With medical conditions it’s not something I can’t do.
The wife and I only like cocktails made with hard liquor, but never hard liquor straight.
I quit drinking in May 1978. I was too drunk at 17:00 that I realized if I didn’t quit, I would kill myself. Haven’t regretted it since.
Congratulations Ed! Those lunch/afternoon martini’s can be very habit forming…
Rarely drink anymore. Back in the day it was beer. Now if I partake , it’s a Twisted Tea, so I answered other.
I haven’t had a beer in over a year, but would love to have one. Not sure if it’s a good idea after the major health issue I had and survived. A large number of people haven’t. I have a great Guardian Angel.
So glad you survived, Bob! It’s good to have a Guardian Angel, but it’s also good to take care of yourself. Keep up the good work.👍 (I feel like any day I’m vertical and able to move is a good day.😉) Have a great day! 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
Cherish everyone of them! They could end with the lack of a couple of heart beats!
Very true, D and J. I especially appreciate my walk every day at the local high school track. I keep thinking that I’ll keep walking as far as I can, as fast as I can, for as long as I can. Yeah, it’s only 1.5 miles per day, but at least I’m moving. My doctor told me 65 years ago, when I was 12, “No running and no downhill skiing” because my knees were already deteriorating. My knee doctor told me a couple of years ago (after my 100-pound, very energetic and playful dog broke my knee–after breaking the other one two years prior), that I’d need to get my knees replaced within a couple of years. Uhh, no thanks. I’ll keep my original parts as long as possible. And thinking about you and your wife, I’m very grateful and feel very fortunate that I’m still doing as well as I am. Take care. Have a good evening/night. 🤗 –Diane
One important note for the “strategist” drinker… the one who wants to have a drink, but wants to avoid a DUI.
ALL drinks contain the SAME amount of alcohol. Doesn’t matter if it’s a glass of wine, a beer, or a shot.
Roughly speaking each drink raises BAC by .02.
Example, 3 drinks = .06
Horse manure! Do you honestly think beer and 15I rum have the same alcohol amount? Show me where you ever read they did.
Chill, Roy. Bob should have said “MOST…”. Most liquors are 80 proof, but not all. The proper statement should have been that ‘Most wines, a shot of 80-proof alcohol, and pansy domestic mass-produced beer’. Many craft beers have more alcohol than the mast-produced domestic beers, especially the double-and triple IPAs.
Beer for convenience, liquor and wine at more formal dining.
Captain Morgan Spiced Rum has always been my alcoholic beverage of choice.
I liked beer until it bloated me and I went to scotch. I now do not drink alcohol (583 days), but I don’t mind when others do.
Congratulations, Primo! That’s a huge accomplishment!👍 Keep up the good work, and have a great day! 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
Beer for DH. For me it is mead or hard cider as I have high sensitivity to hops. We both like wine (DH likes dry; in the middle for me).
Irish cream in coffee. Yummy 😋
Scotch Whiskey
Mikes hard lemonade. Only a couple when fishing, or after a long travel day.
Depends on what the neighbors have in their fridge/cupboard.
LOL 🤣!!
🤣🤣🤣
See above, Cancelproof, and you are welcome to any and all, unless it is the day before traveling and then I reserve one Mountain Dew for the following day’s drive. 🙂 Safe travels, have a great weekend! 🙂
🍻 cheers Neal. Back at you. 😀
Thank you, Cancelproof! 🙂
I have become a big fan of the alcohol-free beers. There are some good ones on the market now (Brew Dog, Athletic, Corona…). I like the taste of beer but I don’t need the alcohol.
I may have a glass of wine every week or two, but I am not opposed to drinking just as close to being a ” teetotaler” as one can be without totally abstaining. I still will have a glass of Scotch a couple time a year and have a bottle of good single malt in my cupboard.
Prescription pills and booze do not mix well…boozers need only to wait until they get older and start taking pills…especially from the VA…to find out about this concoction.
Whatever it is that you’ve got going on JB, and I don’t need to know, I do feel compassion for you. Keep the faith. Press on.
agent orange…as if it’s any of your business. Have a nice day.
Hi, J B. In all fairness, Cancel did say, “… I don’t need to know.” I thought his words of support were very kind and sincere, not that he was being nosy. Take care, and have a good afternoon. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
J B, I understand the first part of your post here, however I don’t understand or agree with your comment about the VA! It makes no difference where you obtain prescription drugs from, hospital, drug store or military med. facility – not mixing certain ones with alcohol is wisely advised. Read and follow the label!
I might have 2 glasses of wine over a year’s time, and possibly 1 or 2 margaritas over a year’s time. Throw in a beer maybe if the timing and menu is right.
Got drunk one time when I was 18, now 76 and never repeated. I do like a nice chilly Margarita on taco night.
Quite true – don’t have to get drunk to enjoy a cocktail or beer.
Ahhh! Those were the days! Er, daze, I think I meant daze. Yep, I don’t remember days, but I do remember daze.
I wish nobody ever drank alcohol. There is a large sign in Crossville, Tennessee, that says “Alcohol – #1 drug, killer, trouble maker.” I agree!
I wish nobody every killed anyone else. I wish politicians never lied. RESPONSIBLE people can enjoy alcohol without getting out-of-control. Trouble is, not all people are responsible.
Beer in the afternoons, sitting in my lawn chair watching all the activities going on around me at the campsite. Bourbon / rocks in the evenings (sometimes late afternoons 😉 ).
For social drinking it’s hard liquor, either rum or whiskey, limit 3 drinks.
For my BBQ time it’s a beer or two.
With a nice meal, it’s wine time!
One Hose Cuervo each day is it for me.
Come join me.
I will be at the New Grass Valley R V Resort starting September 5th.
Thank you, RV Travel! 🙂 Hmm, … my chosen beverages are Mountain Dew, Coke, Dr. Pepper, Orange or Grape Crush, A&W root beer, maybe a Mountain Dew Zero or a Diet Coke once in a while. Thanks again, have a great weekend, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
I used to drink “Pinch” scotch and or Crown Royal whiskey – but a few too many “friendly” bartenders add that little extra – so I switched to beer where I know exactly what I get. If in cans, I pull the tabs off and pocket them to be certain of the count – usually not over 3 or maybe 4 @ 12oz. each. However, I do have 2 every nite while watching the big 3 so called journalists news casts between 1700-1830. (Switching to hard liquor for this might make them more palatable – but I don’t dare try it!)
I make wine so that is my preferred drink.
Although I think wine will go with anything.
I like beer with burgers, BBQ and pizza.
