Do have something special planned this evening, after dark, when witches, goblins, ghosts and ghouls will emerge from their homes in search of candy and other treats?
Or are you headed off to a wild party, where you can let loose behind a mask and not embarrass your true self? Or are you just planning a quiet evening at home or in your RV as you do most years?
That’s our question. Let’s see if Halloween is a big deal or not.
Oh, before we leave, a Halloween joke: Why do demons and ghouls hang out together? Because demons are a ghoul’s best friend!
And now a final word: Boo!

LOL I’ll do whatever I normally do on “Tuesday” evening? It’s “Thursday” in my part of the country, OOPS
At a rally with my RV friends. No kids here. However, everyone will get a little bag of treats from me.
I am stuck in the bed room with the dogs, Sir Arnold Bark Alot (austrian shepard) and Ashland { Collie mix and a lot of mix). Also wife doesn’t want me to scare the kids.
Since it’s my birthday, after my granddaughter comes over in her costume, I’ll celebrate with a birthday party of my own.
Happy Birthday, John! And trick or treat! 👻 Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
23 Celcius here in Toronto, so golfing of course!
One of the choices is “I will do whatever I normally do on Tuesday evening.”
Halloween is today, THURSDAY 10-31-2024.
Trick or Treat.
Whoops! Thanks for catching that, Kurt. Must be the ghost and goblins messing with my brain this week… Happy Halloween! –Emily
We get from 200 to 300 kids. Many candy bags from Costco. Wife loves the kids. for the most part they are very polite and say ‘thank you’. Mid-West values.
Living out in the country, we get no kids since the nieces and nephews and grand kids aged out. Grand niece might come over tonight, if so, wife is making Woppie Pies for us and I will share.
Tuesday? except it will be Thursday
Ahhhh!, It’s Halloween! You only THINK it is Thursday.
We’ve learned to buy candy WE like, since we want to be prepared even though we never have had anyone show up at our door. Our rural area is too spread out for trick or treating.
Will attend a pizza for dinner gathering & costume contest at our Tx. winter home park. Start of the seasons activities & a chance to say hello to our winter neighbors.
Watch Thursday night NFL game.
I would love to watch Thursday football, but not enough to pay those greedy folks…
I wonder if they miss folks such as me, I am not alone..
Being retired how much more of my $$$ do they want?
I’ll just read a book, a hard cover, not an electric one..
Our youth group had a party last Sunday nite with a bonfire, pumpkin carving, hay ride, costume contest, hotdogs and lots of candy. So many organizations and businesses have activities on Halloween night we chose not to compete with them.
We live out in the country and get two or three kids…sometimes none now that our grandkids are grown. We spend the evening with a fire in the fireplace and watch either “Young Frankenstien” or “Dracula, Dead and Loving It.” Both are great Mel Brooks classics!
We live out in the country so we have never had kids come to our door. When we lived in the city I loved passing out candy to the kids to see their costumes.
Same with us!!! I do miss that
We have a tradition of watching a scary movie while having a “cauldron of blood”…a fondue of spaghetti sauce and dippers!
My wife and I would not miss interacting with the neighborhood children and seeing their enthusiasm for trick or treating. And watching an occasional toddler grab a whole handful.
In Lake Havasu City, AZ the city closes off about 5 blocks of the main street and people of all ages from toddlers to seniors dress up in costume. Usually there are 300 to 400 in costume, so we will go downtown to see all of that. It is quite a show!!!
how fun
We’ll do what we’ve done for the past 20, go to the church and pass out candy and water/drinks. It gives us a chance to get to know those in the neighborhood.
We are heading to Fredericksburg today and staying at Arch winery RV park and take the Dalmatians there monster hats to have dinner. We are finally having a fall in the hill country.
We used to enjoy siting on the porch handing out candy to the neighborhood kids. Those kids are now grown up and very, very few youngsters live near us.
A few years ago we found people in cars from other areas dropping off their kids since our township is one of the few that still allows door to door trick or treating. Three years ago there were over 50 kids that were from out of the area being dropped off.
Now our porch light stays off.
No, I am not a Halloween Scrooge.
Now that I live way up in the mountains and woods the only reason my door would be knocked on if a deer or cougar was looking for treats..I am ready though. ..Yesterday I bought a bag of Reeses peanut butter cups..If I don’t get any tricksters I know what to do…Mmmmmm!
Didn’t get to the 10/31 RV travel until 11/1. We live out in a rural area with no Trick or Treating. I forgot it was Halloween. No kids in costumes. Too old for any late night costume party. In bed by 9pm. Ain’t it great!!!! Didn’t even look at the Day-of-the-Week clock & thought it was Wednesday. Just another day in retirement paradise.
I dressed up as an old beat up trailer and scared my neighbors with long term residency.
Just kidding went out dressed up as cousin Eddy.
Thank you, RV Travel! We were home and with no candy. We live in the country. People in our “neck of the woods” go on the Next Door application and indicate if they are entertaining trick-or-treaters, as in distributing candy. We did not indicate tbat we were, so we had none and did nothing special that night. Have a great week and safe travels!
