Do you have a crock pot/slow cooker?

Crock pots (also called slow cookers) are all the rage. And for good reason! You can plop in a few ingredients in the morning and have a delicious dinner ready for you that evening. As a bonus, there’s hardly any cleanup (and for RVers who need to conserve water, that’s a good thing!).

For many RVers, the crock pot has become an essential kitchen tool. Its slow-cooking magic brings out deep flavors, making even simple meals taste gourmet, and it’s perfect for creating one-pot dishes. Imagine walking in after a long day of exploring, only to be welcomed by the aroma of a hearty stew or savory pulled pork. Since most crock pot recipes don’t require a lot of chopping or prepping, it’s a low-hassle way to keep eating well while on the road.

We know people who only cook in their crock pot. It makes them dinner every day! Some even claim it’s the ultimate comfort appliance—set it, forget it, and enjoy!

Do you have a crock pot or slow cooker? If so, do you use it often? Or if you don’t have one, is it something you’d consider adding to your RV kitchen? Let us know; we’d love to hear your thoughts!

2 qt, 4 qt, (3)x 6 qt. Not all in the RV at once. Use for preparation of pot luck goodies.

Have a slow cooker, crockpot and instant pot but very seldom use them. They take up too much real estate in the kitchen.

We have 2 Instant Pots – the first was one of the early models, and still works. It is used several times per week. The second is a newer model purchased because it has a Yogurt function – it scalds milk without stirring! I use it weekly to make yogurt. While we are snowbirding, we have taken the new machine and both inner bowls.

Nope, we boondock too much and just don’t have that much power to spare in lieu of cooking with gas.

We have a dual insta pot and slow cooker. I use the insta pot often but not the slow cooker part.

don’t like to leave appliances plugged in if we are not at the RV for periods of time.

Currently, both the Crock pot & Instant pot are in the house. Most of our TV travel these days is to dig spring events with no hookups, so we wouldn’t be using it on tried. But we do live then both. Since the Install pot also functions as a slow cooker it is the workhorse.

Ninja air fryer…nuff said.

We have one in the stix & brix, but not in the RV. Too heavy, too big, and too much power when boondocking.

We have a home in South Dakota, Tennessee and Arizona. My wife has about 6 at each location. Oh and then there’s our motor home which I am sure has at least 3 if not more.

Insta-Pot has mostly replaced the crock pot.

Although I can’t use all my slow cooker recipes in it, I bring my thermal cooker in the RV. I first heard of them in an RV Travel article about the Wonderbag. (Mine takes up much less space.) Once I get the inner cookpot to temperature on the stovetop, I put it in the insulating outer pot, close that up, and leave it in the sink for 5-6 hours as we travel. No more energy required. Thermal cookers are popular in Australia and the UK.

I tried to like cooking in a Crockpot for 40+ years. With few exceptions, the food never appealed to me. Do I slow cook? Yes but top of stove or in the oven. What has been far more useful to us has been the advent of the electric pressure cooker. We actually have 4 Instant Pots in 3 sizes (4 because we found a bargain too good to resist). Once we began cooking with the IPs, the 4 slow cookers we had were given away. (I had used them while cooking large meals for church, handy for a few things.) When we have power, often an IP goes in the TT.

We own 4 crockpots of different sizes! They are all well-loved and well-used. The smallest lives in our TT and is perfect for meals for 2. The larger ones make good-sized batches that get eaten the first night and then divided up into meal-sized packages to freeze and take along when we travel. Their secret superpower is making big batches for holidays. Whether at our house or taken to someone else’s, the food is always just the right temp for eating and safety. Many favorites can be adapted and travel this way-mashed potatoes, sweet creamy corn, gravy, sweet potato casserole and even the green bean casserole!!! We would never part with our crockpots!

We have a crock pot, air fryer, and insta pot. All of them are way too big for RV. Used air fryer and insta pot once but do use the crock pot occasionally.

We have three… one at home, one in the motorhome, and a spare.

Thank you, RV Travel! We have a crock pot. I usually only cook pinto and/or great northern beans in it. I last did that 5 or 6 years ago, perhaps longer. Maybe I will cook some this winter, bake a large pan of cornbread, and open a jar of sweet pickles or bread and butter pickles. Were I not so full from Thanksgiving dinner, contemplating this would make me hungry. 😉 Have a great day and safe travels!
