Do you read in bed when you retire for the night?

When you crawl into your cozy bed at night, do you usually or ever read before you fall asleep?

For some people, reading in bed at night is part of their routine. For others, maybe they only do it if the book they’re reading is just so good and gripping that they absolutely cannot put it down! But for others, they prefer their books in the morning with their cup of coffee – ah, how relaxing!

What about you? Do you read in bed at night? If so, is it every night? Only some nights? Rarely? Never?

After you vote, please leave a comment and tell us when your preferred reading time is. And, if you’re currently reading something good, tell us about it, too! We always love and appreciate book recommendations. And we’re sure others do, too. Thanks!

No, the bed is for only two things. First is sleeping and I can’t remember the second.

I don’t read books, I read the news and articles on my tablet or check out videos on you tube.

I don’t ever want to equate reading with going to sleep. Otherwise, every time I pick up a book, my brain is liable to think it’s bedtime. So no, I never read in bed. I like Ed K’s comment.

I agree with you Tommy! I can’t remember #2 either! When in the motorhome, I watch tv or a video tape in bed until I fall asleep; thanks to the invention of the remote control.

I’ve always had a tough time getting to sleep. So, I read until I’m almost asleep. It’s been my routine for decades.

I read while sitting in my recliner in the family room. When I wake up, I go to bed..🙃

Exactly Bill! I do the same – with the Tv on also of course…. When the book falls out of my hand, I go to bed….

I read every night in bed. When I’ve read the same paragraph twice, or the words start to jumble, that’s my sign to go to sleep.

I answered “yes,” using a broad definition of “reading.” I spend some time winding down by going through my Facebook feed on my phone.

For about 20 seconds and then I’m asleep.

If I do read in bed, I usually am awakened when the book slaps me in the face. Better time in the afternoon in the rocker on the front porch or by the camp fire

I read in bed every night, to the point that I have bought the soft ‘chairs’ that you can put behind you to cushion your back. I got one for the house, liked it so much I toted it out to the rv everytime we went out. Finally just bought a second one for the rv. Saves my back!

Thank you, RV Travel! Oddly (?) enough when I go to bed, I fall asleep. 😉 DW does read in bed before falling asleep. I wonder if that is part of why DW has trouble falling asleep? Happy new year and safe travels!
