Cocoa Thumbprint Cookies

by Sara Bonham from Chula Vista, CA

Santa will be ecstatic when he finds these cocoa thumbprint cookies on his plate. The soft and chewy cookie has a rich cocoa flavor and is not overly sweet. We love the different toppings you can add to the thumbprint of the cookie. We used festive sprinkles, marshmallows, mint chocolate candies, and mint chocolate chips. Get creative and choose your favorite. These chocolate cookies are fun and festive! Click here for the recipe.

Slice and Bake Peppermint Candy Shortbread

by Kitchen Crew from Nashville, TN

This peppermint shortbread is such a fun take on the classic, crumbly cookie. They are buttery and not too sweet, as you want a good shortbread to be, but with bits of white chocolate and the perfect dose of peppermint throughout. Make these for the family over the holiday season or stack a few up and wrap them in a bit of cellophane for a cute gift with a nod to nostalgia. Here’s the recipe.

Pfeffernusse (Pepper Nuts) “The German Christmas Cookie”

by Sarah Prieb from Auburn, CA

These Pfeffernusse cookies are a little bit of prep and work but trust us, they are worth it. Lemon and candied orange peel give these soft and tender cookies a delicious citrus note that is a nice contrast to the spices. Cinnamon and cloves are noticeable and the pepper lingers just a bit. They remind us of Christmas. Since the cookie itself is not overly sweet, the glaze adds a welcome bit of sweetness. Click here for the recipe.

Cranberry Eggnog Cookies With Orange Dream Glaze

by Noelle Myers from Grand Forks, ND

These will be a great addition to your holiday cookie tray. This cookie has a slight eggnog flavor and is delicious with bits of pecans and cranberries in every bite. On top is a citrus glaze that’s the perfect final touch. It’s full of citrus flavor that’s a nice contrast to the cookie. Here’s the recipe.

Snowball Cookies

by Teresa G. from Here, KY

Is it a true holiday cookie tray without snowball cookies? Not in our minds and that’s why we love this classic recipe. Underneath the mound of powdered sugar is a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth cookie that is slightly crunchy from pecans. They taste similar to butter pecan ice cream and look like Christmas. Get the recipe here.
