The majority of our readers are in the United States. Some are in Canada, others in Australia, some in New Zealand and the U.K., some in Mexico, and a handful in Germany, Indonesia, France, and Ireland. One time we even had a reader write in that he was reading from Antarctica!
The world is a big, beautiful place. Sure, our own countries are fun to explore by RV. And if you don’t like flying, perhaps the rest of the world seems like a faraway, distant land. But today we want to know how many countries you’ve visited outside of North America (so don’t include Canada or Mexico, please!).
Travel can open our eyes in surprising ways. A hike in the Scottish Highlands feels different from one in the Rockies. A cup of coffee in Italy doesn’t just taste better—it somehow slows down time. And watching the sunrise over the rice terraces of Bali or the fjords of Norway? Magical.
Of course, traveling abroad isn’t always about the sights—it’s often the people who leave the deepest impressions. A conversation with a local, a shared meal with strangers who become friends, or simply getting lost and finding your way again can change your whole outlook on life.
Maybe you’ve traveled for work. Maybe for a honeymoon, a mission trip, or a spur-of-the-moment backpacking adventure. However you’ve gotten there, we’d love to hear where your passport has taken you.
After you vote, leave a comment and tell us your favorite country that you’ve ever visited.
TAKE ANOTHER POLL:
- Will you plan a special outing (or drive) this month to view flowers?
- When RVing, do you collect souvenirs?
- How many pets travel with you in your RV?
- For couples: Do you go to bed at the same time as your partner?
- When RVing, how often do you cook over a campfire?

Scotland is my favorite country to visit🏴
Heading there in October. Uncle Sam allowed me to visit many countries.
26 years in the US Navy, I can’t remember them all but at least 15+ some of which I wish I could forget and others with fond memories. Still love the USA & Canada the best.
To see 21% never having left “home” is sad, IMHO.
I am only at about 15, but hope to double it before my time is done!🇨🇦
What’s really sad are those who have never left their State, or even city.
Agreed. I had an employee years ago who was in his mid 20’s and had never left Ontario! I gave him hell and said you need to travel somewhere, anywhere to get a little life perspective!🇨🇦
I was thinking the same Leonard but it kind of makes sense with RV owners.
Parking your rig to travel abroad is a bit contradictory and shipping it to a foreign country could be painfully challenging.
the poll was north America, I have been to other countries but not outside north america
🤔 can you please elaborate?
Unfortunately we’re not all able to just wake up in say I’m going to Timbuktu at four thirty 🤔
Some on Uncle Sam’s Dime, others on mine.
I have been to all 50 states but having seen such a small part of what this country has to see I have no wish to visit any other countries with so much of my home country left to see.
Completely agree. We’ve been to all of the lower 48 multiple times over 35-seasons and all Canadian provinces from Ontario to the pacific and there are places in the US we never got to and likely never will now (health issues). Friends who have been to Europe and Asia told us both were just “OK”, the lone exception being Italy.
I went to college in Germany and took advantage of cheap train travel and long university breaks. I counted 14 different countries that I spent at least 1 night in.
None. and don’t plan to.
Traveled in Europe at age 22 as the best trip but that was decades ago. Glad I traveled out of US in my younger years. Today, many of those countries are not the same, no desire to go back. Same feelings about Caribbean cruises, good then, not anymore. Great times years ago Canadian fishing, but Canada got greedy on licenses, etc.
There’s so much I’ve yet to see in USA with an RV. No airport hassles, no foreign dangers, and nothing to see out plane windows. We are so blessed to have our own beautiful USA.
Safe travels to all, where ever you wander.
23 countries, a few times, I think…lol. Of course, being in the Navy for 22 years had a lot to do with that.
Being in the service I was fortunate to travel 27 countries in all living in some. It really broadens your perspective on life and style. And a few I really love like home. But, even with sometimes this country (USA) being or making messes within in or outside it’s borders it really is the greatest place to live. God bless the USA.
Being a member of the Kentucky Air National Guard allowed me to travel to 23 countries plus Antarctica.
Had to go and count them – 67 countries for us and still traveling! The world is a wondrous place!
Mine probably shouldn’t count as “visits”, except for one. On the way to/from Colombia (exchange student year) I had brief runway “visit” in Mexico, Panama & Guatemala.
Over 38 years my company sent me all over the world on 5 continents.
But as good (or sometimes not so good) as the travel experiences were, working day in and day out with those people around the world gives one a great perspective on cultures and life. I really got to know, and then meet, so many people.
Taught me that no matter where people are, what religion or politics they live in, they most all just want peace, freedom, to laugh, and have a chance to build a good life. We’re more the same than different.
Agree, wish more people would feel the same about the human race. No one is better than another.
I would have to sit down and make a list but the US NAVY has taken me to more countries than I’ve been to US states.
Spent about four hours in Mexico across from Brownsville, Texas, before returning to the North side of the Rio Grande in 1998. Spent more time in Canada at Niagara Falls [1972], Sault Sainte Marie [1983], and Winnipeg to the Pacific coast and north to Alaska in a trip to Alaska in 1998. That’s all.
”Many moons ago”, I was a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines. I’ve been to every country in Central and South America numerous times, as well as the Bahamas Jamaica, and Bermuda. I’ve never been to Europe….yet.
Air Force, 21 years jet engine maintenance, seemed want me in various countries with extended stays
Canada. Grew up in Colorado, hiked mtns (and deserts) all over the state, lived in MT & AZ plus another 12-15 states, but Canada gets my vote for most desirable country. Especially desirable at this time…
