Okay, friends, time to confess: When was the last time you ate at McDonald’s? Sitting down inside or going through the drive-through counts—we just want to know when you last chowed down on a Big Mac or a McCrispy.
We all know McDonald’s isn’t the healthiest option when it comes to a snack or meal choice, but it is tasty and affordable—not to mention it’s a quick, easy stop for those long travel days.
For us RVers especially, fast food can be a familiar comfort when you’re far from home or pulling into a town you’ve never been to before. It’s easy to find, the parking lots are usually RV-friendly, and sometimes you just need fries, a soda, and a bathroom that’s open.
Of course, not everyone is a fan. Some RVers pride themselves on skipping the drive-through entirely in favor of cooking their own meals or finding local diners with more character. And, hey, we admire that discipline!
So, what about you? Are you a once-a-year McDonald’s visitor, a road trip regular, or somewhere in between?
After you vote in today’s poll, feel free to leave a comment and share your guilty pleasure order. Thanks!

When we are doing a long RV trip my husband will sometimes get a cup of coffee at McDonald’s or an ice cream cone. I can’t remember when we last had the burgers, many years I guess.
There was a time when the price closer matched the value for me but not anymore.
Breakfast Burrito, hot sauce, hashbrown and a Senior Coke.
Yesterday!
Mighty good choice but I would have a Senior black coffee.
In 2019 traveling home from California we grabbed a few sandwiches at McDonalds, mine were 2 fish fillets and my wife’s were cheese burgers. We seldom eat fast food and only McDonald’s when nothing else is around. My fish was so overcooked they were about 2 inches square and hard. Uneatable. We were already abut 10 miles down the road, not worth turning back, glad we had snacks in the van.
Ain’t at all the cheap eats it used to be. Come to think of it, it was never cheap when our teenagers each had a hollow leg to fill.
Tried it sometime last year and found we had not missed anything since the last time we visited in the 1990s. Might try again in the 2040s if I am still around.
Just don’t eat at McDonalds. Never saw quality in their so called value. Rather stop at a locally owned restaurant/diner and pay the same or less and have a real sandwich. Traveling is my time so I enjoy the leisure that retirement offers.
Bingo.
Been years. Some friends and I used to meet there in the mornings for coffee and an occasional McMuffin. We solved all the world problems!!
When covid hit, we stopped and never started again.
I have noticed that our local one is not near as busy as it used to be. A lot drive through business, but the parking lot is basically empty.
I think when they went to self order kiosks instead of live people, it had a lot to do with it.
I only stop for fries and coffee when I’m traveling.
We eat there quite often. That says nothing about their quality, just that we eat there a lot. Senior coffee is pretty darn good.
I like McDonald’s quarter pounder but we live in Texas and prefer Whataburger
New Zealand, last year. We needed an American breakfast.
You are what you eat.
Over-priced and over-rated. In-N-out, Whataburger, Subway, Culvers and many others with better prices and better food.
Covid killed it for me
i don’t eat in the car. Period
no sit down, no eat
eat at subway more if on the road
probably better for me. And no more expensive
We enjoy MacDonalds overpriced bacon/egg/cheese breakfast biscuit sandwich 😊
I’m a sucker for their breakfast sausage McMuffin with egg, so about once a year, when I have an early morning lab appt. I swing by McDonald’s and get one as a treat!
Hopefully after your appointment.
We eat breakfast on drive thru about every 90 days or so. Just too expensive to eat out any more.
Mcd was caught serving horse meat in East Lansing, Mi in the 1960’s. Eat there rarely.
I find that if you eat McDonalds food – – YOU SMELL like McDonalds for several hours afterward. Yuck. That’s why it’s been years for us. Yuck.
Thank you for the question, RV Travel! I am unsure, but probably was 2023 or 2022 in late-July or early-August in Berea, Kentucky. I find that McNuggets are the easiest thing to eat and drive, so it would have been during a roadtrip to Owenton, Kentucky a few years ago. Have a great day and safe travels! 🙂
The last time I was on their property was almost 10 years ago, the day before I had quadruple bypass heart surgery.
