Poll: Do you like oysters?

Oysters! You either love ’em or you hate ’em… or, perhaps in the case of our poll today, you like them, or you don’t really like them but you’d eat them anyway. (We’ve never met a person like that, but we guess they’re out there!)

For most people who don’t like oysters, it’s the texture that bothers them. Coming from oyster lovers, yes, they are like a giant booger. There is no denying that. But they’re a really, really, really delicious booger!

If you do like (or love) oysters, being an RVer is a great thing. There are so many wonderful oyster farms and beachside shacks that shuck ’em up all day. We love those places! Make it a bucket list item to visit the best oyster shacks and restaurants in the U.S. We’ll join you!

The coolest part about oysters, much like wine and cheese, is that they taste different all around the world. Some are saltier, brinier, while others are sweeter and less ocean-y. If you’re a true oyster lover, we bet you can tell the difference between East and West Coast oysters, right?

Now we want oysters… Anyway, tell us in the poll below how you feel about oysters.

Do you have a favorite oyster farm or seafood shack where you go for oysters? If you want to share your secret, tell us! Thanks!

Raw preferred, Fried next and in stew the last choice. We only seem to have them in stew since moving away from the coast to Northern Michigan.

No good Anyone that eats oysters would bark at the moon and kick little chickens into the ditch

Mom had a Rhode Island Red rooster that liked to drink his Olympia beer from a 1963 Ford Econoline hubcap. He wasn’t the nicest sober with his unbelievably long spurs but wow, was he ever an angry drunk. You never turned your back to that beast else he’d puncture your legs miserable. Yeah, more than once that crazed commy saw the soul of my waffle stomper yet to this day, I not really a fan of oysters. My moon barking continues though…..

My dog barks at the moon. Wonder where he’s getting oysters? Little chicks belong in the ditch, because they are not big enough to cross the road.

I say “no yuck” because I am extremely allergic to all bivalves.

I hope you carry an adrenalin pen and diphenhydramine. 1 of my BS dad’s was bee stung on a back country trip He took 8 diphens and I stayed up with him all night to make sure that he didn’t resume his anaphylaxis when the meds wore off

I love oysters any way they come, raw, steamed, fried, stewed, you name it. A favorite place we like to go when we are in the area is The Fish Peddler at Pacific Oyster
5150 Hayes Oyster Dr, Bay City, OR 97107(503) 377-2330
pacificseafood.com

It’s just outside of Tillamook, OR.

The old adage “eat oysters only in months with an ‘R'” basically only applies if you self-harvest. So, not in May, June, July or August. No mention of smoked oysters on a Ritz cracker. Mmm. Let’s open another can.

Farm-raised hybrid oyster put that adage to rest.

Thank you for the question, RV Travel! Oyster places were numerous and well patronized where I went to graduate school, but I never was in the right place at the right time to visit any of them. I do like some kinds of seafood, so I do not presume that I would dislike them. I do anticipate that I will never know if I like them because of where we live and my complete lack of interest. Have a great day and safe travels!

Ok, I may be weird but I love fresh oysters, but I also eat snails as well. Most people can’t get past the way they look and won’t even try them.

Love ’em but don’t ruin them by cooking them. My limit is four dozen.

Only like them smoked.

I’ve only ever had them in oyster stew. I’ve never eaten at any place where they were served raw.

I like them fried, smoked, or in stew. My dad prefers them raw, but I’d just as soon eat a booger as eat a raw oyster (they strongly resemble each other…)

I love oysters, especially on the half shell (raw).
I was introduced to oysters on the half shell when I was five at a family reunion in Mississippi. My grand father and other relatives thought that it would be funny to gross out the little kid. However, the joke would be on them as I tried the raw oysters and decided that I liked them. After that, anytime my grandfather would visit and oysters were ordered, he had to share them with me.

Oysters. Growing up on the East Coast oysters were always available and served. Oyster stew, oysters fried, oyster Rockefeller, and always in a seafood bake. Yes I do love the oysters and always best on half shell and placed on ice.
