Happy New Year’s Eve! Can you believe it’s already 2026? We sure can’t.
Will you do anything tonight to celebrate the new year? Attend or host a gathering? Stay at home with your household/RV members and celebrate? Will you stay up until midnight, or will you go to bed before then?
For RVers, the celebration might take on a unique twist. Some of you may be parked in a cozy campsite, enjoying the evening under a starry sky, while others might be ringing in the new year with fellow travelers at a campground potluck. If you’re on the road, perhaps you’ll tune in to a live countdown or create your own festive traditions inside your home on wheels.
Hey, maybe you’ll ring in the new year at a rest area or in a Walmart parking lot. That’s one you probably won’t forget!
No matter where you are, the new year is a time to reflect on the journey so far and to dream about the adventures ahead. Whether it’s visiting a new national park, finally making that big cross-country trip, or simply spending more time on the road, we hope 2026 brings all the experiences you’ve been longing for.
Whatever you’re doing, we’d love to hear about it in the comments. If you don’t feel like sharing, that’s okay, but please vote in the poll below. Thanks! Have a safe night… and please don’t drink and drive.
LIKE TAKING POLLS? So do we! Did you know we’ve run more than 5,000 polls on our website over the years? Check ’em out! Have fun!

Dinners provided by the RV park owner and a dance afterwards.
One of the Dogs name (Sir Arnold Bark alot) is afraid of the noise.
Our Great Dane is also afraid of fireworks and gunshots, so we will be in our motorhome with the TV up loud to hopefully drown out any that are going off around us.
Not celebrating, but will have a seafood dinner and be asleep by midnight. Happy New Year to everyone.
Yup, viewing the back of my eye lids. Midnight is now past that of bedtime.
Group of old friends go to a local campground on a lake. Campground allows campers to shoot fireworks at beach for campers kids and grandkids usually a pretty large display. Probably a couple of adult drinks to bring in the new year.
We will be checking our eye lids for light leaks about 22:30 as usual.
We’ll celebrate New Years with the ball drop in New York city, then go to bed at a reasonable time here in Colorado. 🙂
Thank you for the question, RV Travel! Long ago, I “celebrated” the new year by running a local race on the 31st, and again the next morning by running long (12 – 16 miles). Once DW and I began dating (also long ago), I added a post-race dinner with her to my routine. Decades later arthritis has ended running, and we opt to stay home and enjoy the post-Christmas quiet and solitude together with dog #3. Have a great day, grand 2026, and safe travels!
My wife and I will toast the new year with a glass of something sparkling just before we put our ear plugs in and retire at nine o’clock.
I will be staying up with our dog as he doesn’t like loud noises like thunder and firecrackers. If I fall asleep he will just wake me up by jumping on top of me and barking. So you might say my dog and I will be up a bit past midnight till the neighbors quiet down.
Just myself and DW. With a prime rib dinner and French silk pie….. and football.
Of course, we celebrate the new year when it begins – 0000 GMT, or PM EST!
We’ll be up, mainly for the televised fireworks. But each year the local TV station shows fewer and fewer fireworks and more shots of the drunks at hotel parties. Maybe this NYE will be different. HNY to everyone at RV Travel and to everyone everywhere!
My late wife and I had a tradition – after we gave up the party circuit -an eggnog or two before having a T-bone steak dinner with twice baked potato w/butter, sour cream and bacon bits, a vegetable; a small frozen shrimp ring, a bottle of Starling Castle red wine to toast each other and to the new year! Tonite will be different, however, I will attempt the twice baked and I have a shrimp ring and a small NY strip steak. My granddaughter just emailed and noted the whole family has been hit with the flu bug – so I will not see them tonite. I will retire around 0030 to 0130 or so – as usual.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE AND THANKS FOR A GREAT YEAR OF FRIENDSHIP AND READING TOO!
Remember 2100 is the new Midnight.
Stay safe.
I liked celebrating when I was younger. Now it’s just a reminder how quickly the years are passing.
Normally asleep before 11.
I just hope the New Year will be better than this year has been.
I have my doubts.
Wife and I both have colds so probably early to bed tonight.
I’ll make sure my spouse is awake for the first kiss of the new year!
Pumpkin White Russians and I’ll be in bed by 10pm. The new year arrives whether I ring it in or not!
For the last few years, we head to Seattle for New Year’s Eve. There is an English pub called The George & Dragon in the Ballard area, so we celebrate the British New Year (which is 8-hours ahead of us) at 4pm! It’s awesome! Meet up with some good friends, enjoy the company of everyone, have some good pub food, a couple of ‘cheers,’ and head home so we’re in bed at a decent time!
